i thought you were talking about that gay frozen yogurt fad that originated in socal called FROYO.  Its actually not that bad but its still ubergay.  Almost as gay as Broseph Davis hanging off my balls like a leech, almost.

Don't tell him, but I enjoy him leeching my balls.

i got bored with all the 2.1 kernels and shit and hadn't touched my phone for a few months, now this shit got interesting again... im trying to write something to fix the battery icon but even the low level outputs are incorrectly scaled and i dont know that science... my phone will say 80% after 10 min of running and give the <10% batt warning after 6 hours, then proccede to last another 20 hours... i got 26 hours on this charge right now with most of it "under 10%". ghey.

Droid X > Incredible > Desire, IMO

Droid X - higher res, bigger screen, comes with 16gb card, higher res video, bigger battery, etc

I'll most likely be switching to Verizon when my contract is up for the Droid X.  T-Mobile has a shitty selection of "super" smart phones like the Evo 4G, Incredible, etc...

Asked Tmob when my contract is up, the guy asked why, I told him phone selection sucks and I want the Droid X/Evo, and he says "we have the HTC HD2."  Nigga, keep your obsolete WinMo to yourself...

$90/mo for 450 min and "unlimited" data/messaging with Verizon...

$90/mo for unlimited voice/data/messaging, and insurance with T-Mob :(

Unfortunately Sprint sucks ass here, because I would rather have the Evo than the Droid X.  It would be cheaper with Sprint too...

Just got an incredible a few days ago.  Absolutely love it, other than battery life.

Will be interesting to see what the X is like, if it comes out within the next 25 days or so and reviews are good I may return it and get the X.  Mainpy battery pife, so far its really bad for me. Using the shit out of it, and I live in an area with very weak signal so the radio eats up battery like its going out of style.

install mod manager, since froyo is pre rooted
use mod manager to install bugless beast 0.4
install chevyno1 ultra low voltage 1.25 ghz kernel

enjoy rooted, themed, 2x overclocked froyo 2.2 based highly modifiable phone... with flash

i am able to connect to my old office email just fine with 2.2 but it drains the battery pretty good if i let it sync constantly as there is a new email every 30 seconds.

How about folders under your Cabinet. I've noticed that any folders that was created in my cabinet before I got the incredible would not show up at all. The only way to see those folders would be recreate them... so I had disable my folder redirection rules since I didn't want to go through the trouble recreating every single folders, subfolders in my cabinet.

The joys of a custom rom.

There are a few 2.2 roms available for the G1, but not everything works.  I'll stick with the 100% working Cyanogen 2.1 rom for now...

Can't wait til October when I can replace this obsolete phone...

Rooted, then leaked OTA comes out, unrooted, installed OTA and rooted again.  MAJOR improvement in battery life. It also enabled face detection for the camera, and 720p video and other bug fixes.  Can't wait for a froyo rom with everything working.  I use my camera too much to go without.

Wipe.

You will lose everything except what's synced with google (contacts, calendar, etc) and you won't lose what's on the SD.

Found my next phone:

from what i see, the phone is having issues with the sd card. bc i pulled it out and the phone runs flawlessly. with the card in its very laggy.

im messing withit trying to find a solution.

You probably have a corrupt media file somewhere (audio or picture).

- Take everything off the card
- Restart phone
- Format SD card
- Slowly add shit back to the card until you find out which file is the problem

You shouldn't have to do this, but apparently Motorola fucked the rom somehow.

Or, instead of bothering with all that, just start the phone without the SD card once and see how it runs...

ok i figured out the ringtone bs, froyo lost acc support.

If it was a 2 year contract, they usually let you upgrade 2-3 months before the contract usually ends.  At least, AT&T and T-Mob will.  I doubt Verizon/Sprint are any different.

I liked WinMo when it was about the only option as far as smartphones.  Windows Phone 7 looks interesting, but I think I'll stick with Android.

Yep as long as you root and use one of the other wireless tether programs.  If you use a shitload of data they may figure it out and cause you problems but otherwise no.

Hmm, Thats funny, You don't know jack shit tho. My roomate has been doing it for almost a year on VZW. I've been doing it for about the same (but yah, i'm rooted) hes unrooted bone stock. So next time before you post something stupid lets just keep in mind I always know more then you. There is no difference if your rooted or not they will not catch you unless you start raping bandwidth.

You dont use any VZW products, search teh interwebs or just go into market and type TETHER.
I've hit over 15gb in a month (and they say 5gb cap on the "Unlimited") on t-mobile i've hit well over 25gb.

So moral of the story is to do your research before you go giving people false information.

VZW does charge you to use the "easy" way of tethering.

You can bypass it with a custom rom and probably with the various tethering apps (like pdanet).

If you don't *need* wireless tethering, just use this app:
http://www.junefabrics.com/android/ (http://www.junefabrics.com/android/)

Custom roms aren't difficult at all to flash, but still not as easy as just installing an APK.  They are the "cleaner" method for tethering, since you don't need a BS app on both the phone and PC to tether.

I could be wrong.  I don't know jack about your phone.  But AFAIK, as long as it's an official, signed rom, it'll let you flash it.

I had to downgrade from 1.6 to 1.0 (lulz) to root my G1.  Downgraded, rooted, installed custom recovery rom, installed custom rom.

Do they block downgrading from .98 or something?

The kernel they use in BB and my phone do not get along at all. CM6 has alot of features that no other rom has had. Black/grey text is bad ass, spare parts, dev tools, dspmanager, plus the rom has a settings menu in settings.

What phone do you have? It seems each build of swype is built for a specific phone

Dunno about roms for it.  Just look around xda-devs, read through which bugs are reported for each one, which is updated the most frequently, which thread has the most posts, etc, and make a choice.  Once you have a recovery rom installed it only takes a minute to install a different rom so you're free to try them out.

 O0

The boot time is fucking nuts.

That's for the European's "G2" with HTC's Sense skin.  America's G2 will be bare-bones Android, so should be even faster.  With a custom Gingerbread rom and clocked to 1ghz...

And people bitched that it was "only" 800mhz, failing to realize that it's also the newer generation, faster, more efficient Snapdragon...

Similar to a jailbreak, I guess.  Of course with Android you can install any Android application you want, even from outside the market, but it still does give unlimited freedom.  Let's you flash new roms, add bits and pieces from other builds (different widgets, virtual keyboards, etc), can do easy tethering, anything.

Downsides
- It's trial
- You have to install an app on the PC
- Last time I used it it would randomly drop connection
- Requires an installation

I used it and it does the job.  It's handy if you're in a bind and definitely a lot less trouble than rooting...but overall the "built-in" feature of a rooted/custom rom phone is a helluva lot easier to use.  If you aren't going to use it often or don't feel comfortable rooting/flashing, then it's just what you need.

Is it really in the marketplace?  Last time I used it, it wasn't, and I had to download from PDANet's site, copy to the phone through USB, then install...  Marketplaces are different for each carrier, so maybe some don't have it removed.

I i have verizon, but my marketplace isnt the verizon specific, (not sure what it is really) but i know i got it from there.
it was a long time ago tho, just after 2.1 was coming out in leaked roms for everything except for the eris, which at that time still didn't have root.
i only had to install a driver(i think) and i thought after the trail you just cant use secured websites(banks and shit), maybe not. i didnt use it alot. i use my wi-fi tether now alot, and its waaay nicer for sure

Newest gen Snapdragon.  Only clocked at 800mhz, yet still outperforms the older 1ghz Snapdragons.

No custom roms or root yet, but I expect one within the next week.  Isn't officially for sale until October 6, I just happened to get mine really early since it was shipped from Kentucky.

Coming from a G1, it's amazing.  CM6 helped speed the G1 up a bit, but this thing never lags and everything is smooth.

Wireless Tether is awesome and easy to use.  Only downfall is you need root.

Yes.

All you have to do is follow directions and you won't have to worry about bricking it.

If you do brick it, as long as it's still under the 1yr manufacturer warranty, they'll send you a fresh one.

Meh,

It's not looking good for rooting the G2 so far (although I'm SURE it'll be done).

First of all I couldn't install ADB drivers for it.  Grabbed the usb vendor and device IDs, manually added them to the *.inf and it let me install the drivers anyway.

So I'm thinking fucking sweet, until I restart in recovery mode and ADB shows the device offline.

Restart into bootloader for fastboot, and it appears USB is disabled which makes it useless.

Wondering now if the official rom can be modified and spoofed to install from SD...

I give it a week or less til root.

Don't understand why they make it so difficult.  The ability to root only makes the device more desirable, and if it was easier to root they wouldn't have to worry about getting a bunch of returned bricks (that they will ultimately just reflash and send back out).

BoostedSchemes, where's the Quadrant score for that Droid of yours? :P

Looks like I'll have to send my phone back soon.  I posted on XDA-Developers forum about only showing 1.23GB of internal memory, fresh out the box, despite the spec sheets on HTC and T-Mobile websites claiming 4GB.  Latest word is that HTC will be replacing them...

Honestly don't think I'll NEED 4GB internal, but fuck it -- that's what I paid for.
