Post by: potatodude on July 04, 2010, 03:13:21 PM
So yea, my car got stolen out of my driveway last night. I'm fucking pissed and ready to kill someone. Just got home from riding around strapped with my buddy looking for it.

Also when parking car in garage doesnt make it safe either. Make sure to master lock at the wheels of the garage door so if someone does break into your home to steal car garage wont open. I use 3 master locks on mine along with a couple other little tricks. I also use master locks on all openings to the property.

gsr or ls? If its an ls you will most likely get it back with drivetrain. If its a gsr hope you had full coverage

PM me which model of master lock.  Not all are secure.  Better yet, just replace them - it's a situation where a $2 offbrand can save your ass.

Anyone else find it ironic how his plate is "blured" out? Some times the idiots drive it with the plates still on it, or even leave it visible with the plates on.

But they're JDM 5-lug, y0!

My friend makes a living parting out Hondas. Not the best of living - he gets free land usage but still has to pay for the cars. When they're free, you're above min wage selling a few parts a week. The hatch is worth a month of welfare alone, assuming it's as good as it looks. Speaking of which, watch your local craigslist like a HAWK for the next month or two.

At least when mine was stolen I got my turbo parts back. Thanks cops for the pursuit ??? ?

Master Locks are stupid easy to pick/crack. About 1000000000 vids on Youtube showing you step by step. Although I have Master locks on my shit too lol...if they weren't free I would probably be using generics.

Post by: chris on July 05, 2010, 03:57:10 AM
The whole point is to making it harder. Also the videos are of course someone calm in their bedroom. After kicking down a door and going to open the garage and it doesnt move you think they are going to calmly pick locks. Fuck no they are going to bail and get the fuck out. Your making it harder on them. Of course locks can be picked nothing new.

They could also kill my dogs too with a couple shots to the head but come on. Thieves go for easy targets they dont like work.

Chris is correct.  it's about layers of protection.  it's been said 1000 times, if the thief REALLY wants it, they will get it.  but don't make it easy for them.  most anti theft devices can only be called 'theft-deterrent' and not 'theft-proof'

Um you don't have an older registration card? I'm not sure but maybe your insurance asked you for it at some point.

I fully back the layered protection deal. I have battery backups, non-reversable kills via latching relays, an ecu rom kill ("dead" secondary map), even a wheel boot when I'll be away for a while. I'm borderline paranoid schizophrenic...

How hard is it to put in a kill switch/what not?  I just unplug and remove my ECU.  Not that I have much chance at being jacked, but better safe than sorry....

Had a kill switch actually, usually don't put it on unless I'm staying at a friends in Lakewood or Tacoma. I live in the burbs for Christ sake, never had a car stolen in my neighborhood.

we got auction'ing russians/ukranians up here.  they'll go to copart, buy one that's complete shit for cheap and then "source" a parts car... good luck potato, and for the record, that winco area is smack-dab in the middle of tweak town.  FYI

hope it was some non russki, then it'll be like chris said

Tweak town? Have you been on gem heights? I actually bought the car off some russian dude in tacompton, had clearly been in a front end accident but did a decent job fixing it and the price was right.

If you remove the spray paint, keep as much as you can as paint chips. If they find parts and matching spray paint while asking questions, they'd have grounds for a more thorough search.
