I use the Scriptblocker plugin for Firefox. Stops all scripts from every site, you choose which ones you want to run.

Imburn, nah the was my buddys. This is my laptop.

I tried scanning it with spybot, and malwarebytes.

Ryan, its a virus/adware/spyware of some sort it my guess so the script thing for ff won't help.

Spud, lol, same thing I told ryan.

Buk, I said I already tried two of those.

China man, jd is correct. His baldness knows no boundries. Lol

Go to  www.ubcd4win.com (http://) get it and learn to use it.  Its the only way I've gotten rid of some stuff without complete reinstall/wiping computer since it boost completely outside your install of windows.

Microsoft Security Essentials if you're on an OS that it can be installed on.

Otherwise, the obvious solution is to reformat and install Linux.  It only takes 30 minutes to make it do what the fuck you want it to do, and surely your friend will give up by then...thus never fucking it up again.

Well if those didn't find anything and there's no problems when not using your browser, Logic would seem to point to scripts being run from the browser. Common sense should tell you to at least install Adblock or script stopper and see what happens.

Honestly it sounds like you've spent more time fucking with it than you would have spent backing up the important stuff and reinstalling the OS.

When you're done, install MSE and an alternate browser.  He should never have those issues with FF or Chrome.

Make sure to delete the IE icons and hide it as well as possible.  On Win7 you can uninstall it without any detrimental effects.  You can even update Windows without it unlike previous versions...

FF will develop those problems.  It's popular enough that people have gone out of their way to find it's loopholes, just like IE.

Possibly.

I know my mom would get malware semi-regularly when she used IE despite only going to online game sites and facebook.  I installed FF and forced her to use it, and it's been problem free for months.  I only use it at work since it's the only non-IE browser approved for gov't employee consumption, and use Chrome at home.

Either way, he is considerably less likely to have problems with FF than IE.

The beta of FF4 is available, and I dig the minimalist look, but do not like the address bar being between the tabs and pages.  Doesn't make sense IMO.

I've had more problems with FF n my desktop that's been together for less than a year, than i have with IE on my laptop that I've used for a little over two years now.
