the first reaction was to flee the scene... however, i stayed and called the cops on myself. once you leave a scene of a accident it becomes a crime... and i'd rather get a ticket then sit in jail. so the cops show up, and this inifinity was parked on the side of the road on queen anne hill in seattle. very congested residential urban area. (owner was not in car when i took the bumper off, in fact, i didnt have any contact with the owner.) the cops proceed to tell me that because no one was inside the parked car that they would not issue me a ticket. filled out a police 'exchange of iinsurance nformation' form. it was a tough phone call to the boss explaining that their insurance premium might go up.
i feel like a frenchman right now.
-
nope
-
meh, I wouldn't do it.
Not due to the possible consequences, but merely because I don't want to be "one of those assholes."
The bad thing is knowing that if the person you hit was in your shoes, they'd probably leave.
-
agreed. i did the right thing... but i feel like a stupid frenchman for even hitting the car.
-
I hit a parked 2wd toyota truck once when I was backing up with my dirt bike in the back, not sure what the fuck I was doing but it happened. That guy was so happy I went and found him. I cant be "one of those guys" either.
-
It depends, is the owner of the car anything but white or asian? If yes, proceed to hit car again, then leave.
-
I'm an asshole. Id run like hell
-
I've only hit one car and ran, there was hardly any damage http://tinyurl.com/256kwdk (http://tinyurl.com/256kwdk)
-
i drive carefully and dont put myself in these kind of situations
-
I hit and run canadians all the time :noel:
-
i hit your mothers all the time, which is usually followed by running
-
Only time its ok to hit and run is if its a really nice car (owner most likely has full coverage) or its a really shitty car (fuck that piece of shit). The closet i came to a hit and run though is i was walking down the sidewalk by the mall and a ricer was parked with his front bumper damn near toudhing the curb. I slipped of the curb and my foot broke his cool primered bodykit........oh well

You sound like a faggot that could give a shit less about other people. fucking idiot.
I have never hit and run because it sucks when it happens to you.
I once about 2 weeks after i got my license (mind you ND is license at 14) i backed up into the side of a grand am and the wheel fell off. epic fuck up. but i stayed and just wrote him a check for the damages, no cops. Saved my insurance big time.
-
I'd stay.
-
Never tell on yourself!
-
Doesn't everyone have insurance against hit and run? Is it under the "uninsured motorist" category, or is it under comprehensive
-
Pretty sure comprehensive, because if they hit and run it doesn't matter if they have insurance or not...
-
I'd run, I do it all the time, I'm french so I cant drive.
we know francie
-
I would just take some pics for my rec, and then leave my info on there wind shild and leave. I would then get fuck by the judicial system and fight it in court and lose. Then I would have wished that I would have just called the cops and filled out a report.
You did the right thing, you pot smoken nw nog! I award you 2 internez!
-

Nope its under collision. I was involved in 2 hit and runs, both times I wasn't even in my car. Insurance companies see anything between two cars as a collision which pissed me the fuck off to no end. So if someone ever hits your car in a parking lot, make sure you say a shopping cart hit it becuase that is comprehensive and usually has a cheaper deductable
-
Being that I live in NYC, that is how people park. They do damage.

exactly, i had a dent in the bumper of my old camaro and JUST CALLING the people and telling them there was a dent and i didnt know how it got there... they said i "filed a claim" with no payout. just simply calling them and asking how much they would cover of fixing it.
insurance = scam

If I am in the city, its considered part of the cost of living NYC to get your shit fucked up. If I am outside the city I call the police and report that someone I don't like whose information I always keep handy hit and ran.
-
Of corse.
What kind of fag stays and cuttle?
I'll strait destory a bitches rear end and bounce.
Shit is not my problem.

Not my chair not my problem thats what i always say

I had a company truck sideswipe a vehicle of mine and run off, luckily I happened to have left my car in front of a friend's house and they caught the name of the company and the truck #. They called the police, who went and talked to the guy and he claimed he didn't know he did it. Friends saw him hit it, slam on the brakes, looked around for anyone, apparently didnt see anybody and he took off. The boss called me and apologized up and down and told me to get an estimate and he'd cut me a check for the full amount. Dude got ticketed and lost his job :-\ Also I had heard he had to go to court for it too, not exactly sure why it'd go that far, unless he plead not guilty...
You did the right thing, even if it does end up biting you in the ass a little.
-
Maybe the nog had done it a few times before?
I recall in HS I hit a truck while backing out, enough to rock it like 2 ppl were fucking in the back. Jumped out, saw it was just his tire because his jackass self parked 2" from the line and his turned tire was 2" over the line. Got in the car and left, didn't care if I bent his tie-rod. I guess if I did it to a car that was parked like absolute shit, I'd just drive away. Otherwise I'd slip them my info and hope it doesn't blow away.
BTW I was surfing youtube or streetfire the other day, there's some good crash vid on those sites. One showed a moron in a giant SUV cut the corner coming out a stall and literally run over the car's bumper, monster-truck style. The best part was the COP that was just accros from him...easy bust.

some asshat hit my car in the mall parking lot a while back and took off... I was beyond pissed. I wouldnt take off esp if I was in a work truck, because if I did and someone saw me, Im sure they would have alot more to be pissed about than if i just manned up and said somthing in the first place. Soo far in the last 5 or 6 years at work, ive only dented up work trucks: backed into a skinny post 2x (both resulting in very very minor dents) and I crushed a trailer jack trying to cut it hard to turn around in a dead end road. Thats it. I did however catch my bucket truck's bucket on another trucks boom knuckle leaving a yard one time when i worked for some contractors... That was probably a very expensive fix.
