Hippies should be allowed to eat what they want.
Two years ago, one of the local communes was dumping their shit upstream of themselves and getting sick. If the government hadn't stepped in some of them might have died. This is one of many reasons why government is bad.
I like fresh/local and whole foods, sure. But some of the raw, or in the case of shit we aren't designed to ingest like dairy, unpasteurized foods are just stupid. Most of the people producing these are liberal arts majors without a grasp of pure culture technique, cross contamination, or anything derived from logic.
Go Darwin!

There have been 85 confirmed cases of anthrax from people attending drum circles this year. Let them sort themselves out.

While this is all true, the motivation is not to protect public health, it's to make sure everyone pays their dues to keep that big wheel turning. We can't just have everyone buying food without thousands of govt. workers sitting in cubicles ensuring our safety for us. That would mean we'd be responsible for ourselves, which is of course completely unacceptable. The fact that people out there can grow their own food and even make a profit without the IRS being involved simply can not stand.
America, Fuck Yeah!

I agree completely. Such foodstuff should not be sold commercially, but if consenting individuals wish to seek them out they should be allowed to legally purchase and consume said goods. The current structure, minus raids, is fine. If the government wants their tax dollars, this isn't the way to go about it.

FDA is a wierd organisation. They've been illegalizing innocuous, not to mention naturally occuring and abundant, amino acids and such for the last 15+ years. If they have any reasoning behind such action it is neither apparent, logical, nor going to be disclosed at any point in the future.

The federal government has not yet assassinated Glen Beck. What are you waiting for?

Search for FDA and amino acids. You'll find article dating back to the early 90s taking both sides of the story.
