Measure the valve spring free height, coil thickness, and cam lobe profile specs. :?:

For the cam profile specs.
Compare to my thread: http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=14562.0 (http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=14562.0)

Originally got this info from: http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com/version6/version6.EG/3-stage_VTEC/index.html (http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com/version6/version6.EG/3-stage_VTEC/index.html)

For the stock valve spring info post up and I'll look at my spare parts and compare. ;D

You dont need a compressor to get the springs out. 1/2 inch long extension+heavy hammer. Couple good hits spring will come loose.

Chris is right. I only needed a compressor to install new ones.

                                                                              your cam measurements
D16Y8 (stock)      Cam Lobe Heights   mm        in              in
                           Primary              36.778   1.4479        1.410
                                Mid              38.274   1.5068        1.517
                         Secondary           37.065   1.4592        1.402
                          Exhaust             38.008   1.4964        1.585

Looks like stock or worn stock depending on your measurements. :-\

common knowledge on regrinds, don't get to small on the base circle that you have issues with lash adjusters.

For example ZEX 59300 uses smaller base circles and thus has the rattle noise even though it is not a regrind.

that cam looks like a new billet I thought stock sohc vtec cams were lobes pressed onto a solid rod.

another thing that made me think it was an aftermarket is the fact of the sides of the cam lobes are rough not smooth and its the first one ive seen like that  ???

All of my z6 and y8 cams have little rough edges.

My z7 cam looks a little bit bigger and smoother. ;D
