Title: Welding alu with stick welder?
Post by: robus on August 02, 2010, 08:08:01 AM
Looking at this welder here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160462823006&_trksid=p2759.l1259 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160462823006&_trksid=p2759.l1259)

I know there are rods for stick welding aluminum, I'm wondering if it's worth trying...

It is a little tricky to get, but it is doable. My biggest hint: Move fast.

in case you didnt know, the 'ac'  in ac/dc arc welder does not mean it can do aluminum. the ac setting is for steel and apparently makes it easier to weld with difficult rods.
