Title: Dumpster Diving
Post by: chris on August 12, 2010, 11:44:15 PM
Anyone else go and do this stuff?I have gotten 2 99 percent complete green houses from harbor freight dumpsters and a jack that just needed oil in my searches. I also have to go back there anyway to get boxes to ship parts and steal bubble wrap from the dumpster also.

I found a HF mani where the passenger seat would be in an abondoned CRX around the corner from my house.  Easiest $50 i ever made.  The car was stolen and it was an auto, all they took was some of the interior and the auto trans  ??? .   Had to be beaners.

used to every other weekend at a vinyl siding and window place.  easiest couple hundred bucks scrapping ever it was full of the aluminum shit that got removed when they did their installations.

My dad is a dumpster diver at his work, finds all kinds of cool shit. Self propelled walk behind mover that just needed a tune-up, in-bed toolbox that I put in my truck, full steel workbench top that's like 12' long. I wish I had the same luck he does.

i discovered a dumpster near my work that is always full of unspoiled bread products. dont know if you guys have heard of pepper-ridge farms bread, but what they do is throw away the bread that is going to reach its sell by date befor the next time they stock at the stores.
man i wish i could get a pic of this treasure trove, i even got my college buddies eating for free out of this dumpster.

there also was another dumpster i found that contained countless boxes of day old crispy cream doughnuts. shit was cash but you cant really eat that shit all the time.

Found one of those Fisher Price push cars for my kid sitting on a curb. I turned around and checked it out and it just looked like it had sat outside for a while.  I cleaned it up got some decent Plastic paint and gave it a quick couple coats and let it dry for 4 days or so before i gave it to him.

Kid loves that car more than anything else he owns lol.  total investment like 7 bucks.

Painted it up like the Volkswagen and slapped the truck emblem on the front.

I'm not above dumpster diving.
Also my shop is across the street from the rescue mission, so I get my meals for free.

Contrary to N/a mikes beliefs, the best girls are not on craigslist or the stripclub, the best ones live in dumpsters.  JD knows whatsup.

I got a small generator lost night from Tractor Supply's dumpster.  Broken spark plug wire housing ftw.

By Walmart there's an auto shop, they had exhausts and a transmission hanging out by their dumpster last night.  I thought about taking some shit but I didn't want to jack their scrap pile.

One of the local tire shops also fiddles around with diesels.  They have a HUGE pile of OEM diesel exhausts, 3-4" stuff, which looks to be coated mild that has no rust on it.  I plan on asking for an exhaust to do one of my cars with.

Dont feel bad, just drop off shit that you dont need but weighs the same, then they still get their beer money from the scrap weight  O0
