Wes has a RT4WD 1.7 Z6 with a Crower 2 NA cam and an Evo8 turbo, and his brother has a 2WD caged version with a sleeved LS/VTEC and 60-1.  The 2WD has Skank9 1000lb springs and a complete suspension under it that is the smoothest thing I have ever been in - full throttle or transitioning to closed throttle from power, in straights or in curves, it just feels smooth and stable.  Very nice.

all the ones i find around here are FWD or autos. all the FWDs were speeds and the one auto was RT4WD which my friends sister uses.

Good luck in your search.

Strong as hell?  Not really.  They are weaker than DSM boxes and shift similarly to a granny four speed from an 80s Ford truck.

idk i went through 3 dsm boxes breaking the 2-3 shift rail the 3-4 shift rail and the transfer case output shaft in one summer(and no i didnt have wheel hop) and i was only putting down 384whp. they cant be weaker than that. as far as shifting after seeing the shifter epic tuning had there is no argument there

Learn to adjust your shift cables, replace your cables when they stretch, and observe that the "DSM" gearbox was designed for a 2200lb car and not the 3200lb cars they came in.  You broke a T-case output shaft, Wes has dropped whole gears and broken two cases and isn't even making 300 whp at the moment in a 2400-2500lb chassis.

When you weld your center diff I found out that you need to run damn near solid motor mounts because the motor will cause the front wheels to spin just a bit different than the rears and i guess it put a bunch of stress on the t case output shaft. I have since sold the car and who the hell knows where it went. I sold it to some punk kid at my hs and from what i heard he blew it up seeing how fast he could get it to go

Nothing like a RWD wagon, front axle openings were JB/devcon closed up.

Sounds perfect for getting abused.  Waiting to spot a deal like that in my area.  I'm probably going to roll it at least once if I get one, so rust isn't a big concern.

Might I suggest the wagon forum???

Myself I want a OBD-1 Beagle Wagon, perfect for my courier work. I'm now working for a new company so the Transit Connect is out of the question. A wagon with the back gutted and made flat = whole lot of room! Loads would be 700 lbs max, easy for a wagon!

Eh, I'm sorry to be a hater but a carbon fiber driveshaft on a Civic is retarded.  You only NEED one when the physical size of the driveshaft and the power level induce insane harmonics.  App Performance across town has a fullsize crewcab gas truck, twincharged with a roots blower and 76mm turbo, that had a nasty harmonic around 120+ that they slung a CF driveshaft into.  Crazy shit, def a cool truck but jesus god what a money pit.

CF drive shaft is only retarded if the drive shaft itself doesn't cost more than the initial purchase price of the car O0

Just picked up a 90 rt4wd in east TN, I drove about 2300 miles for it :-X
I plan to use it for snowboarding trips as well, I drive from Sacramento to Tahoe a lot in the winter, and I'm tired of caltrans chain control.

would just shoping up the front axles and using them as a "plug" work? hehe im sure i would have to mess with the insides but would be AMAZING to have a fun rwd civic in the summer, throw in front axles and have an AMAZING winter car that i could throw 5 buddies and their sni/board gear into!!!!

The rt uses a half shaft, and because of the location of the transfer case There is not room for the inner cv joint, you have to use the half shaft on these.  But I dont see any thing wrong with just leaving the half shaft in.

You should check out the site bone mentioned, lots of wagon info.  Jaker is the member with the converted rwd with cf shaft.

Here is a discussion about the power capabilities of the 4wd system

That thing is so money. If I wasn't moving I would be all over that thing. It needs to stay in the hybrid family for sure. Maybe Ill tell Dan Phan about it that azian dog eater has owned like half a dozen of those over the years if you pass on it.

If you do come to California to pick that up Dan's shop is the oddest collection of cars. From low budget thrown together Hondas to gt2's. Plus you can see in person Dan is just as hard to understand in person as he is on the interwebz but dude is an uber good mechanic.

It is also rust free and has been well maintain by several Hybrid owners.

it is DESCHET!

The sad thing is I can't make it to Cali right now, I'd love too. I'd love to bus/amtrak out there, pick up the car and cruise the wrong coast to see everyone's places, even head up to OR/WA.

$250 plane ticket, leave Sunday morning.....think I could be back in Cincy by Tuesday @ 4 pm? Over Labor Day Weekend.....I've only flown once and that was over 30 years ago.

2400 miles......egad.
