Any one know how to disable a factory gm alarm? I am working on a 96 Pontiac transport for someone and every time i try to hook the battery back up the alarm goes off :?: I have the fob but it doesn't seem to do anything.
-
try putting the key in a door lock or ignition and turning it?
-
Stick a shop towel in the horns so if they do go off while trying to diable it it muffles the noise, but you cn still hear it to check if you fixed it
-
cut wire to horn. Fixed

Thanks for all the suggestions. Im about to run out and see if i can figure this thing out I need this van outa here I have other shit to work on. I never thought to try the key in the door lol. Im unhooking the horns before I try as those bitches are loud and there is still a siren to tell me if I fail or not,
-
no siren just factory horns
just turn the key in the drivers door to unlock as you hook the battery up
as long as the wiring isnt fucked it should disarm it
or turn key to the run position and leave it when you hook up the battery
-
Key in door... Then turn it....
OR
Rag in gas tank... Then lite it...
Both will git er done...
-
take the horns fuse maybe?
-
Brick through the windshield?
:P
Pretty sure key in the door or ignition then turn will deactivate most factory alarm systems.
-
ok as it turns out it may not be a factory alarm but it may be a dealer installed unit as there is a siren under the front bumper. At any rate I found a small button under the dash and pushed it while turning the key and it seems to have disabled the alarm. The key fob i have does indeed work as i can lock/unlock and open the sliding door with it but it doesn't turn the alarm off for whatever reason.
-
then thats an aftermarket unit on the car and not a factory one
post pics of the fob

lol, that's about as secure as a super-max surrounded with chicken wire.
They may have been idiots and not hooked it up right. Depending on how the door locks use electricity (some flip-flop polarity, some pulse, etc), the alarm should have had it's arm/disarm wire activated with the locking/unlocking of doors. Or the alarm is just a $29 Walmart special.

wow i just noticed there is a sticker on the window that says protected by code alarm lol. anyhow here are pics of the fob, sticker and button

That is one gangster van. Ripper vid ASAP
-
if i had that van i would put an alarm on it
-
if i had that van i would put an alarm on it
and lojack
-
drop the underside of the drivers dash and find the code unit and just unplug the big primary plug
you have what appears to be the factory key fob not the code alarm units remote
once you unplug the brain you should have no more issues O0
