2 gsr transmissions,
1 (bad) with ls final drive and quaife, the countershaft is worn at the bottom of the pinion gears, i guess the countershaft bearing snap ring wasn't seated and wore away the gear a bit.
can i just swap the quaife with the ls ring gear, or will there be interference? i checked that both countershafts have the same tooth count, but didn't check for gear pitch or overall diameters...
thanks
phil

No they are not the same.
Gotta keep an LS CS with an LS ring gear; same goes for B18C1 CS and ring gear.
Even if the tooth count is the same on the CS(which it is IIRC), the pitch will be different.

thanks! i put it together anyway just to see, and you can feel the final drive interfere while turning the input shaft in any gear.
oh well.

I'd be happy to sell you a large spline LS FD for pretty cheap if I wasn't so far from home.

94-01 LS FD, I should have a spare setup.
Yep, 64/15 = 4.267
$30 shipped USPS Priority, PM me if interested.

i was able to just re use the ls countershaft, but thanks for the offers.
on a side note, turned out that the damaged tranny had a type ARRR gearset with the ls quaife. I just stripped the gears off, and swapped the CS's.
so now there's a type ARRRR clone with a gsr non-lsd diff, and a gsr with an ls FD and quaife.
