i have been working on my flange welds as i have had some trouble with keeping them uniform around the whole pipe.
LMK what ya think

That shit looks bad ass danmit. Now I have another welder to add to the list of aspiring to be like.
-
wow nice :o
what steel did u use for make it?
Malichite, how's going the log mani?

+1

how is the drain on that thing?
-
1) absolutely horrible gas coverage
2) you somehow managed to burn some the stainless up at a piss ant 30-40amps worth of welding current - because you travel SO FUCKING SLOWLY trying to make "pretty welds".
Get your head down in the god damned part where you can see, use proper gas coverage, currents and travel speeds.

I work the torch to get the color in the welds that is "perfered" by my customers. is there something you see wrong in my welds?

I had my welder set at 80 amps on all pipe welds and collector welds and was pretty close to flooring it. also on the flange welds i set it up to 130 amps and am very close to full on. and i can assure you i do not travle slow at all.

btw toys i am turbob16hatch off ohmt.
anyways lmk on the color side of things, and for the most part the weld tie in on the flanges and the consistency on the pipe welds.

i'ts not that bad, stevemode made a good video regarding it.
-
he made that video just for you eh? impressive.
-
That video needs to be posted. NOW.
-
i talked to steve and he said he pulled it down to clean up his account or something.
idk he should post it back up i think
-
How did you get that polished look on the pipes? I want to get a similar finish on mines. Do I need to jsut use some fine grit to clean it up or is there more to it?
Gonna try it out on some test bits.
-
That made me

Looks tits

red scotch brite pad on a angle grinder is your friend for nice looking pipes.
you can get them at most welding supply stores. they may be called a surface conditioning pad.

hmm I have a whole box of those...
-
how long have they been lasting for you? i seem to only get 5-6 bends out of mine before the edge is gone and there worthless.
-
I dont use them for that. I use them for other things, but they dont last long.
-
get a cheap ass tumbler, i think i saw one at harbor freight last time

God you are a fucking faggot.
-
oh, and Matt....I was in your shop the other day, I've seen the shit you have just sittin around...POST MORE PICS OF YOUR WORK!
-
i hate posting picture with my shit point and shoot. doesn't show any detail.
oh and laziness doesn't help.
-
i love how toysrme can come and run his mouth about everyone elses shit but all he can post if a few pictures of pipe welds he did at school with equipment that practically does the work for you.
the work looks good. honda tech loves colorful welds. if toyrme built that manifold the welds would be gold and silver though with no color because hes pretty much the sickest welder ever. you should take his advice.
-
i have never said toys can't weld the guy is good. i also have asked for advice,(earlier in thread). but i'm to the point i know what i'm doing for the most part and could very well make a manifold have no color what so ever. and be 100% silver.
but that is not what my customers want. and i think we agree on color sells.
but honestly i was disappointing that he bashed me so hard when i had a different name( was corrected thanks mods). and then a quickly as he came he disappeared. So........ :?:
yeah that was weird.
but i think corey, csaddict you guys need to post up more, as do i. i have mainly been waiting to finish a few big projects that will be killer when done but are less then impressive part way through.
-
I haven't made a manifold in a while. I usually just do the work for the local speed shop. Custom exhaust, charge pipes, blah blah blah.
-
You should learn from my welding skills.
I'm the best welder ever.
Look at this colorful weld!

Toysrme, lacks experience, and tact.

pwned.
-
nice welds. the only thing I don't like about that manifold is the angle the collector meets teh flange
-
i hear ya, i don't think it will effect performance any, but i can see how it could look off a bit.
-
i doubt that the extra turbulence would make much of a difference as well just looks funky
-
You are very right sir color does sell. That is a very pretty manifold. What numbers did that car put down?
-
if you dont mind me asking, what and how many bends did you buy to make that manifold. I am going to be building a similar manifold for my H and i'd like to get an idea of how much pipe i need.
Thanks
-
to build a shorty you need 5 1.5" sch 10 90's and just over a foot of straight. i cut the collectors at 3".
but snese your building a h22 manifold i have a pretty nice one imade for a guy. i will post up pics in bit.
-
cool thank you so much!
-
but that is not what my customers want. and i think we agree on color sells.
Its right up there with having the WG not fall off :D
