Title: lost everything in the garage
Post by: n2o_2k on September 25, 2010, 08:14:45 AM
Don't know what to think at the moment, but I am pretty sure I was framed RICK P'd or whatever.

Yesterday I decided to go to my garage to put the homemade turbo kit, exhaust that i've been working on to my daily drive and come to find out that the garage was broken into. They took everything, everything, it was a complete sweep. ls Block + tranny, ls  short block, a6 short block ,  y7 short block, b20/b18 heads, b18 head, a6/z6/ y7 heads, spare si tranny, clutches, tool box, mig welder, grinder, cutting saw, band saw, exhaust kit, turbo kit, wideband... pretty all the tools and parts are gone.  >:(

The only they left in the garage is the 92 hatch with jdm  d15 and turbo, wastegate bolted to it. The mig welder was taken but they didn't take the tank with it  ???

The garage is located in an apartment complex with lots of garages, mine was located near the dead end alley. The only traffic was at the entrance of the alley which is like 3 or 4 garages away, so there was no way for anybody to tell what was inside the garage. I've renting this garage for almost five years and I've never seen something like this.

Don't know what to do at the moment, don't even know where to start.

Insurance? You should start by calling the cops and call your insurance.

The only thing I'm not insured is my car, they can steal any other things I own.

Start calling cops first, have to have report before calling insuranse.
Wow... that's sucks

Do you know anyone named henry? Did any nig nogs know about your shop? It was someone who knew you, most likely a drug user or a dark fellow. Sorry bro!

Sounds like an inside job or an apartment build maintenance guy.  :?:

Are you late on your rent?

I'd knock on some doors, ask locals if they saw anything.

The only person who wants your Honda shit are:

- scrap metal guys
- Honda people you've brought to your garage

When was the last time you were there, pre-robbery?

I'm going with scrap metal guys. I mean stealing sohc non vtec heads those are basically worthless on the street value

If it was someone who was into the stuff would of grabbed just pricey shit and bailed and not spent all day loading up cylinder heads, blocks that are really not of any real value.

It's looking like tweakers with a pickup truck, but don't rule out a couple of your closest buddies just yet.

Don't know what to think at the moment, but I am pretty sure I was framed.

who framed you and what did they frame you for?

I'm sure he just doesn't understand the difference between robbed and framed.

THATS RACIST! But very true. O0

That really sucks though. Definately sounds like scrappers. A civic is easy to part out, and grand theft auto is just as brazen as loading up all those heavy/low dollar engine parts. When I'm moved in, first thing going onto my garage is a steel entry door & reinforced frame. Then bars on the windows and an alarm with a siren in a cage. I'm also running some spare copper back to the house so it will turn on some random house lights. It's not a bad neighborhood, I'm just paranoid.

BTW The proper term would be RICK P'd. Someone he trusted sold him out to some greedy assholes.

Well I was talking to my insurance agent a while back(cool fucking dude, hes a old vet) And he said to write down all your shit youve have done take pics as you do it, then take your car and have it appraiser by a car (I dont know the term) appraisel guy. If I was to do that then they would cover my car and all the parts that I have put on it. Not Just the 2k that my car is worth. And my payment wouldent go up any more.

Called the cops as soon as I found out what happen. The part that sucks more is that I didn't / don't insurance, I am pretty much  screwed :-[.

Are you late on your rent?
Nope, I am not behind any payment at all.

I'd knock on some doors, ask locals if they saw anything.

I haven't been there since Sunday. I talked to the few neighbours other than being completely useless by saying they didn't see anything, one actually said that he heard lots of noise late on Thursday night coming from the direction of my garage. It sounded like the noise were made by a group of people from what he said.

Probably not.

No doubt about the pickup truck. Only two close friend knows about the garage, I don't advertise it or even try to bring people there because you never know. I am really not active the local scene just to avoid things like this... whoever did this had to be watching me or something.

I will pretty much do the same thing when I moved the next garage. I have to start looking more into security, probably an alarm system that be can tied into a prepaid cell phone service to either diall 911 or send me a message.

your friends(with no ill intent) talked about your garage, and this talk was overheard...

then some scumbag did some work...

profit

i feel your pain.  i have been robbed before as well.  there is only so much you can do to regulate the stealing of your property.  i found that having little to steal helps... but a general shift in human consciencenous would be better.

Yeah the stealing of non vtec heads/ls heads I mean you guys know you almost have to pay people for those things to be taken.

I'm confident it's not people who are into Honda's. When my shop got broken into small things of value were stolen

ecu's
throttle bodies
intake manifolds

Hauling/jacking ls heads worth 10 dollars is straight up tweaker shit.

That really sucks.  I hate these posts.

My vote is tweekers that know of you and your shop.

One of the most pathetic things I've ever witnessed was a crackhead asking me if I was interested in ZC parts  Told him I wasn't interested but the dude drove home and came back with a ZC head with cracked valves. lol

I've installed Honeywell alarms before, however I'm thinking about just using a car alarm. Cheap proximity sensor, glass break sensor, compatible with magnetic switchs (doors/windows), remote arm/disarm, key pad arm/disarm, moderate-distance 2-way communication, and battery backup. The new systems apparently work with smart phones, sending you a text if shit happens. You just need a a 120VAC-12VDC power supply, and a PC's ATX PSU is perfect for that.

You could also tie it into a vid cam system, and activate when set off. There are many possibilies, just go to your local security/alarm shop and look around.

I would call the local metal recyclers for the next couple days to see if anyone has dropped off stuff like yours.

I think we all agree some of the stuff they took may end up there for tweaker quick cash deal.
Title: Re: lost everything in the garage
Post by: HiProfile on September 27, 2010, 01:18:10 PM
Around here the recyclers wont' take certain things now, and for other things they require a valid ID to record. I like it because it forced some of the looney "off the grid" recycler bums to head out of town.

BTW My bro just busted 4 nogs (one was an 18mo old lol) for ripping alum siding off a forclosed house. They had everything they could reach from the ground ripped off.

Put up a sign pointing them to my address.  I have a bunch of crap I have no use for.

Honestly though, how much can scrapping a block/head be worth?  A case of beer?

I'm about to scrap a block or two, 3 cranks, and some random metal junk parts myself.

I'm wondering how much all this shit is worth now.  :?:

No scrap yard around here cares. They all ask for ID and basically dont link it with shit.  You can steal lik lets say an etire oven from the side of someones house and take it to a scrap yard right up the street and even if the home owner came home within 2 hours you wont catch it.

I said "Dont you guys check ID's?" Reply:" Yeah but we dont do anything with them and it would only work for small stuff"
I asked" what about the camera over by the register" His response" I dont think its ever worked actually"

It was awesome.  Ask me how i know.

Tell me about as part of my job I have to keep track of spot prices for copper.

My ingot suppliers are telling me $4.5 to $5/ lbs. next year.

Because China is planning on building 700M new homes and copper is used for plumbing.

So I'm going to be investing in futures contracts soon. ;D

Keep an eye on China though - the CDM housing market is just waiting to burst, those chinks control everything with an iron fist and pretty soon the # of people who can pay the exorbiant prices for sheds out there is going to plummet, so their plans for building a dickload of houses are contingent on a lot of shakey govt controlled bullshit - they are about to have to start jacking up salaries for workers which SHOULD lead to more home buying except a lot of the homes/land that are supposed to be built are going to be looking for govt money too... im really skeptical of the whole situation I don't know if they are going to build and sell a shitload of homes when the market flops or if they are going to make everyone go back to their 30 chinks to a room workers dorms. Fuck the chinese middle class.

I knew an old fart that used to strip down copper cables/wires and other electronics for side cash.  He was definitely of the non-tweaker sort, and used to pay me money to strip the wiring before I could legally work, so must have been making a decent amount of change.
