Like the title says... pushingout bushings from a 20 yocar sucks.... probably cuz its from Michigan....
-
Just have to know how to deal with them.
;D
-
My craftsman sockets don't fit right in my 20 ton HF press.... also its my first try. Any good tricks?
-
Burn them out with a torch. Then you can press out the sleeves
-
Burn them out with a torch. Then you can use a sawzall to relief cut the sleeves

:noel:
-
Torch to burn it, zip gun to get the sleeve out. 10 minutes and you're done.
-
I was pushing the bushing out. Then saw the sleeve then hammer
-
Also al my sockets are the wrong size...

Maybe I'm outta the loop but isn't a zip gun like a handgun of some kind?

+1
I used to use a chisel or something on the sleeve and whatever the sleeve was in after you take it out the sleeve just falls out.
-
I'm guessing I'm just shitty at life.... I'm gunna try to build some sorta press punch to fit and push it all out at once..... outta black pipe and using a finder, file, and drill to spin it... haha
-
You need fire. If you dont have a torch just build a camp fire and throw those fuckers in.
-
I have a baybay propane one and a few tanks of map gas. Usually only for freeing seized bolts but ill try tonight..
-
Zip gun. Maybe there's another name for it like hammer gun or something like that

Air chisel with a panel cutting bit...or a sawzall.
-
I got a trash fire going when I did my front LCA bushings.

Those of us who don't have a French background call that an air hammer.
Yes it works well for driving the shells out once you have made a relief cut in the shell.
-
I didn't even think of an air chisel.... I was doing chisel with hammer
-

I burn then cut. Hacksaw re-assembled with the blade inside the hole. I almost had a disaster using a sawzall once, so now I shy away from powertools when it comes to iron suspension parts.

Get a little carried away did ya?
:P

Has anyone on here put zirc fittings on lcas?
Just currious how they work...
-
No, but I probably should so that I can keep the poly bullshit lubed.
I think that the bushings should be grooved on the ID as well as the OD with a passage in between for ti to work worth a damn though.
-
I put some of mine in the oven first and then pressed them. They slid out like butter. All I used was snapon sockets and some sheet metal to make them sit level in my press.
-
I'd have to say my biggest problem is not having the right size sockets...
-
I'd say your problem is not starting a god damn fire like you've been told to do.
-
Socket is useless, use a
ZIP GUN

-
I fired the rest of them.... I mean to easily press out the sleeve instead of the saw....
-
Burn out and then use the ZIP GUN :P
-
I need to make a 2 lines write up about this.
-
Ill give it a shot with the rear trailing arms in a few days...
