Title: I finally have a TIG! Dynasty 300DX.
Post by: rsmith2786 on October 10, 2010, 12:44:47 AM
I found a pretty good deal on craigslist this last week and finally went and checked it out with a friend today.  It's a Miller Dynasty 300DX in really good shape.  The guy has a small fabrication shop but is being forced to downsize and lost the only guy who knew how to TIG weld.  The machine has certainly been used but it seems to be in great shape and i think i got a pretty good deal.  He included a total of 3 torches including a nice weldcraft flex head.  About 50 misc. new tungstens, 20-30 lbs of filler rod including some pretty expensive stuff, tons of cups and gas lense stuff, cart, and a few other little things.  All i need is a bottle and some practice.  I was pretty impressed with the welding i did during the test-drive though.  It's a beast machine.  All together it was $1800 and i went 50-50 with a friend since we will be living together and sharing garage space.  One of us will just buy the other out when we move.  Unfortunately we aren't getting our new place until January so it's just sitting in my apartment until then.  Starting in January I'm beginning a mid engine locost project (www.midlana.com (http://)) which i'm pretty excited about.  Fab photos to follow.
