Title: JD = Davis Technologies?
Post by: dvst8r on November 03, 2011, 10:23:10 AM
JD are you Davis Technologies?

In my random internet travels, I watched a dyno video, that in the credit's had a "special thanks" and in the list of names was Davis Technologies.

I think I'm related to him by marriage, and I've met him twice although I'm sure he doesn't remember me.  He provides traction control for high end NASCAR/other cheaters and 3500whp drag cars, I tune dinky streetcar shit for the most part... dragging out the family tree seemed tacky and like I was angling for a deal.  If I was around him a bit more often I would bring it up, but only to tap him for concepts and electronics theory like any adult nerd would want to.

His new TC unit that detects wheelspin and automatically pulls and feeds back in boost and timing is fucking badass, BTW.

Not sure if I was told retail or hookup price by one of his friends, for the boss' Mustang, so I'll just put it this way.  It costs more than I'd buy and build a Civic, Miata, etc, for... but it's cheaper than the entry fee into a clean base model C5 with some mechanical issues.  :P

I don't think it matters if that price is msrp or not, wholesale cant be enough less for any of us to afford.

Your downfall is no cash.

My downfall is, that I don't actually care. I need a dyno like JD needs hair, sure it would be nice to have, but no where near important enough to go chase after.

Dynos are pointless, fun is immeasurable.

I can get the cash. But with a divorce looming, I'm a little hesitant to do it. Otherwise, it would be a done deal.

. Divorce looming?

On a side note.   Either spent it or lose it.   One of the two will happen

Yea, remember that conversation we were having while loading the car on the trailer at your shop? That's most of the reason.

And, we make the same amount of money. She won't get mine, I won't get hers.

I'm really not worried. It's mutual and so far is going smooth. Starting with seperate phone plans next weekend, getting the power switched from her to me(all other bills are in my name) gonna refinance the house once we are past the 3 year requirement for not repaying the $8k tax credit. I'll also be handing her $10k to walk away from the house and everything in it.

You found my downfall   :'(

If I got a good enough deal on it, I would just sit on it for a year until I could find a place to put it. Thing would save me oodles of money and I could probably charge ridiculousness dollars for people to use it.

Hope it goes down that smooth.  It probably won't.  I've yet to see a "chill" divorce that didn't melt down before the end.  Take the advice you've been given and spend the money... or better yet convert it to cash and make it look spent, then DON'T spend it until the shit hits the fan.  AKA on more lawyer fees to keep from getting fucked.

thanks, i feel pretty confident it will go smooth.

i dont have a lot of money in anything except this house and we have had the house less than 2 years. there is almost no principle paid yet. there is a bunch of money invested that i am the beneficiary of, but isnt actually in my name. considering we might have paid $2k principle into the house, have $4k into our bathroom remodel and we bought a $3500 e36 m3 together, giving her $10k to walk away with no lawyers sounds like a hell of a deal.
