So after reading this http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-venom-hennessey-2011-11-02?imageNo=0 (http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/ssc-ultimate-aero-venom-hennessey-2011-11-02?imageNo=0)
Got me thinking what would RHMT build to compete for the world record fastest production car or Silver State Challenge's unlimited class?
-
I've thought about this before it would be some sort of twin engine monster with one engine powering the front wheels and one engine powering the rear wheels. 600whp sbc at either end would probably do the trick but it probably would be easy enough to make 800whp per engine. With 1600whp and a properly aero tuned body you could probably set a record relatively easily. That's with a substantial budget though.
If it was me then twin evo 4g63's tuned to around 450-500ish whp a piece in an evo one engine powering the front wheels one engine powering the rear wheels would make me happy but I don't know if that would be enough to set the record but it would just silly stupid fast.
-
one day i will start my mid engine build from scratch. im planning to build a tube chassis mid engine car around some honda B one of these days. it wont break any records, but im sure it will be a blast to drive

I think a locost with a fullblown turbo S2k set up would be a good choice.

Need more power! I seriously think the twin engine would be the simplest and would probably be the easiest on the drive train not to mention using all available wheels to put the power to the ground.
-
built d16 with a y7 trans easy 200mph in that bitch!
-
i've always wanted to put twins on a older jaguar xj12.

I always liked those engine and smooth they ran. :noel:

I was on a similar thought but with a CX 3.25 fianl ratio and maybe some kind of transmission cooler. :noel:

That would be sick to build and would remind me of the 500hp Aerial Atom tested on Top Gear.

Do it Weir style... rwd crx with lsx.
GM R07 ... even better.

Nice idea Aaron can do the fabricating :noel:

I would just build an f1 car and quit flirting around the premise. It's doable on an RHMT budget

"Hey Lou, put twins on the bitch, 600 lb ice tank in the back, cage it and lets go have some fun in Nevada!!!!!"
Spectre 341 Challenge 2011 Winner Lou Gigliotti (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2QfYHOc8vU#ws)
1200 hp would get about 265 mph depending on aero package, maybe more.

Interior sound all you here is the s/c whine and barely here the rawer of the engine. :noel:

Yeah I've been checking in on it.
You have made a goal for us to anticipate. :noel:

The problem with that thinking is this: unlimited budget means better-than-econobox gearboxes. I'd do an inline-6 or v8 that has a compound turbo setup. It can still be light, has a good powerband, and won't lose traction so easily when power doubles over 500rpm.
The problem is I have little need and no use for something that goes >200mph. I'd rather have a lightweight car that can deal with our shitty public roads as well as it can a smooth track, while having enough power to outrun a decent turbo civic. Even then the most common "fast" car out here is a sti or evo with minor bolt-ons. Nobody daily drives anything fast out here.
BTW about those nevada roads - our freshly paved roads aren't even that smooth.

twin f22a-hx35 combo powered CRX. cheap torque FTW!

Money is no object and you homos would build hondas? fucking weird.

I use to own one of those except it was a '77, the ugliest year. :P
Interesting choice, a lot of shit to change on it to make it work, but it has a nice sleeper look to it. :noel:
-
Had a 76 and i don't know what it is about that car but i love every got-damn thing about it. the front the back and all 13 yards of each door. Its a total fucking pig, they didn't make SHIT for Hp any of those years till they brought back the Z in 78 and it didn't do shit either really but godamn its so fucking sexy.
Fiberglassing everything on it and cutting some metal here and there i figure it will lighten up a good bit. Making it turn a corner worth a shit is more of a challenge but im sure it can be done.
I want one so bad. oh god. look at it.

I never likes those cars :P
-
No one did/Does, dont feel bad.
I have some masochstic/sadistic infatuation with busted/useless cars. no idea why.
I can honestly say that the 74 is probably my favorite camaro out of all of the years. i dont know whats wrong with me.
I also really love the 93 Chevy Beretta. That car is a total piece of shit and id love to have one. ???

I don't know but the berreta GTZ is not to terrible looking of a car if you ask me. The quad 4 isn't an absolutely terrible motor either.
I think twin 1000hp v8's would be the simplest method and would easily provide the power and the torque necessary. Hell Hennessey said there LSx in the venom could make like 2000hp how about twin 1500whp engines? 3000whp with equal torque? might do the job I'd imagine.

I think a 725whp Locost is a bit much, homey.

I would build a V8 honda, since they don't exactly blow up in the applications they race them in. But a honda chassis isn't a bad idea. Gigliotti's car wasn't in boost even half the time, but he probably had a load of tuning done to the suspension.
A Honda with a "real" motor in it would be very badass - be it in a straight line or a chicane.

Considering what he races for a living....from 2003

Then the time he went to the drag strip, the drag car shit a clutch so he broke out the road race car.....road race slicks don't like to hook up at all, different compounds....
