Thermo test kicked my ass. :'(
Ill be lucky to get a 50%. Fucking sucks, its gonna be rough to pass now. Drinking my sorrows away right now though :P.

I almost failed my thermo class. Honestly I don't know why because I look at my book now and it's not very hard to understand.
Basic laws, basic equations, plug the values and get the answer.
Out of context, everything looks simpler tho :)
Anyway, I prefer to work on algorithms of 30 lines that does the work of 1000. That's more the kind of problem I like :noel:

The shit we're doin is definately not plug n chug. We have to start every problem using one of the balance equations and derive the equation for what needs to be found from it or a combination of them all. Fucking sucks!!
Oh well, I'm over it, I have actually learned alot despite the fact that my grade is gonna suck. Passing is the objective at this point.

Heat and mass transfer is thermodynamics dipshit, lol.....and that's exactly what this test was on.
Were done with thermo now though. The final is all fluids shit, which I seem to understand better.
It sounds like you are in either an elementary thermo or applied thermo class to me. Heat Transfer, as a separate class down here at least, is a whole other ball game. You gotta be ready for lots of diff EQ gymnastics.
I loved Applied Thermo.
I am in Fluids this semester, and it isn't too horrible. Good way to ease back into diff EQ before I go back for another round of lashing AKA Heat Transfer.

Those subjects are prerequisites for many other classes for MEs.
Sounds like PSU uses an interesting breakdown for that subset.

MET major, thermo is kind of kicking my ass as well. I feel like I'm finally getting it though, which is good. Its also fucking most of my class right now.
All the classes I've taken dealing with mechanics I've found to be easy as shit, but thermo just isn't clicking.

Fuck, this is my fifth year cause I got fucked when I switched from ME to EMET three years in. I pretty much have a job waiting for me so I'm just ready to be done. Being a student is fucking old at this point.
As long as I graduate with a 3.0, I could give two fucks. I made deans list every semester for the first three years and I've been coasting on that ever since :P
This will be my 5th year as well. I am getting tired of being constantly broke and living the, "student life," in general. I am way too far in to call it quits now.
I'd honestly rather have a nice major GPA in comparison to overall GPA. So far I am doing much better in my major versus gen eds. Fucking Calc 2, Calc 3, and Diff EQ are what are bringing my overall GPA down. Mreh. Heading back to campus here in a few to pretend that I am a code monkey. Fuck MATLAB!

Eh, I happen to be somewhat opposite. My mechanics classes have been a lot more difficult compared to thermo, but maybe I have have much better instructors on that front. I did enjoy Mechanics of Materials quite a bit though, and Machine Design 1 is pretty dan cool too.
I still suck ass at dynamics though. :(

Nobody cares what were your results at school after on the market.
I got 2.4 and was hired at my first and only interview. They don't care how good you were at school, they want to know how good you are now, if you can work without making trouble and if you are not retarded.
Now I laugh at my friends that had 3.9/4.0 and makes 10k$ less than me. All this effort for what again?
Fuck school anyway...

For engineering/techie degrees? Ace core classes, retake any that you don't do so well at. Target a C in non-core classes. If asked about that don't be arrogant and say that they don't matter... say that you are already fully literate and have a broad range of interests, and so chose to focus on the core material of your future profession.

That's the key right there. Getting into the field is the hard part from my experience. Once you are established, your work experience overshadows your academic record.

Its still good to have at least a 3.0 if anyone asks I guess. Getting a job is all about how good can bullshit, not what you know. If your not an idiot, you can always learn what you need once your hired.
Agreed especially considering the market is pretty damn competitive for new grads. There are several companies that have a 3.0 or 3.5 GPA as a minimum requirement. Granted, there are also lots of companies that will happily accept a lower GPA.
