Title: Ebay top hat any good?
Post by: SDRAWKCAB on December 18, 2011, 02:56:48 PM
Since I have decided to go with a set of GC coilovers figured I would pick up a set to help save my struts.
Any first hand experience? Im not modding the stock hats since my welding skills are sub par.

I'd suggest getting the ebay tophats. I made my own and I wish I hadn't. Don't get me wrong, it was far cheaper. But the DOM tube was a hair too large OD for my shocks, and it was hard to find the right ID for my shocks. It was actually harder to find long enough bumpstops. All the stockers I had were cut, same for my brother.

For coils, fabbed tophats would be best. They are sized exactly like GC tophats IIRC, so you'll want a polyurethane spring seat if you use full coils. For adjustables like GC's you'll want the ebay stuff.
