Title: 17hrs and 45min on a plane.
Post by: slappynuts on January 07, 2012, 11:26:29 AM
This flight is going to suck balls. Anyone have any suggestions beyond the usual sleeping pills when you leave and watch movies?

Bring all the episodes of a tv show you like but only saw some of, and watch.

Lappy with a number of project using cad/cam and play.

Figure out how you are going to document, pict, vids, and write-up on how they build jeep thingys.

A shot of nyquil and a shot of tequila does a pretty good job.  Also a beer or two at the airport bar combined with an ambien just before flight will put you out for a good 8-10 hrs.

Noise cancelling headphones are your friend as well they drown out the airplane engine roar. You can get the adapter to use it on the airplane at most of the airport electronics stores. A book is also something worth having pick one that actually interests you though. Don't forget you gotta do this flight twice so be prepared.

Train/bus to LA, boat to hawaii, plane to Manila. Then a RHD type-r for the rental. They've got RHD correct?

Don't know what you're into. I've been running quite a bit lately so I just read "born to run" by Chris Mcdougal. It was a really good read even motivational at times. It's about the Tarahumara runners in the copper canyons of mexico.

Lets see. $1000 for coach,$5000 for first class. Nope not going to do that

You must be a short nigger, no one over 6' tall would purposely subject themselves to that torture. I have done 17hrs in the air going to NZ, at the back of the bus. Never again, POD's and booze are worth the $$.

Stop using up time worrying about conspiracy theories and work some OT and make up the difference.  :P

Get hammered at the airport, take a caffeine pill (I use OxyElite) when you get on the plane, stay up for 8 hours on the plane, then crash.  No jet lag.  It's worked every time going to/from Dubai/AFG.

When I went to Italy I didn't sleep for 36 hours (can't sleep in sit position) and had no jet lag at all.

When I came back it was terrible tho... Took 4 days to recover.

Works well, especially between Dulles and Dubai.  Both have an Irish pub within 100ft of the gates I always fly out of.  Never had jetlag once I started on that methodology

I like to try to stay up all night the night before I leave and this usually helps me get a little sleep on the plane. I am not a very good plane sleeper so I will try some sleeping pills this time.

Games are just not my thing so that wouldnt last long. I guess I will head to the bookstore before I go.

Do you have to have a kindel to read these file or would other e-books use same formats?

If they are interchangeable then I like this exchange thread to happen.  :noel:

We kind of have something that can be used for that in OG.

I've been on a trans-pacific flight to Asia.... Been there.

Bring a laptop and charger (some airlines have wifi)
if multiple people in group: cut a risk game board into four and have people split it between them, then congregate in the back of the 777 for a long game.  Settlers of kattan is an awesome pick too.
Cards... Lots of cards (15 deck shitty boots game anyone?)
Someone to suck face with
Lots of porn and retreat to an excriment facility
Lots of zannex... Lol, or ambien
Throwing magnets (if you like to annoy people)
An iPod filled to the brim, or with multiplayer Bluetooth/wifi games

The list goes on...

I was lucky, I had my gf with me...  I can honestly say the mile high and multiple 3rd world club patches are on my sleeve.

How many people were on the flight you speak of? Every time I have flown to asia the planes have been as packed as they can get.

sounds like all stuff that would keep a teenage nerd entertained for hours

only thing that would make 17hr flight not suck to me is 1st class blowjobs naps and liqour.  or a hostile take over in the cockpit terrorizing a  plane full of asians and pedos flying to ladiboi land to find wifes and boyfriends ending with just kidding when we get there lol
