I like all the mini rod tractors too bad they are getting few and farbetween in these parts, most are either ford 2.3 or gm iron puke motors so a dseries is welcome change. Wonder if he has a ccw trans or flipped his rear end.

Somewhere in the comments they had said it was the transmission from an e30. Typically, a getrag 260 or a 240.
