Well this is my 2nd or 3rd intro thread depending on how you count it (Old HMT, twice on this site due to server error)
I have myself an old 1974 Toyota Corolla I am throwing a small turbo and megasquirt, Few pictures seen here:

Still working at it going to make me an intake manifold next.
So I am thinking about buying an AC/DC china tig, I am looking at these.

How big of a deal is pulse? Starting out will I use it at all? I have tigged steel a few times before with just a regular old tig welder. Any advice is welcome.

Welcome, This intro was well executed
-
+1 for building something rather than just being the usual smartass.
-
Dont let it get all kinds of grinding crap inside it and dont plan on going into production where you run it all the time and count on it to deliver products to your customers and you should be fine.
-
I love the old TE chassis, I always wanted to see a 2TC get built for no mercy turbo powaaaaaaaaaaar.
Seeing this makes me miss my '75 Sport Coupe :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
WELCOME BROTHER!
Why not retro fit a obd1 honda dizzy/ecu? Cheap and easy to do, plus parts are cheap to free.

That be a huge difference going from dual point ignition and carb to PGMFI. :noel:
I still dream off working on those 2TCs, the first engine I learned how to rebuild.
I can do a rering and bearings in 2hrs. or less. on those, very basic.
Luv the "hemi-head",and a short 2.76" stroke, 8k revs all day.
I really miss my old car, too bad they rusted out to damn easy. :'( :'( :'(

There easy to find rust free my way. Most people want 1-4k around here.

I'd almost trade an EG and a CRX for one, if I could get their handling fixed.
Not easy to autocross, or road race, but they are super light, like 1700+ lbs. :noel:

welcome... the pron is absolutly fabulous!!
-
Wow, I haven't seen a thread this full of win in a long time.
-
Renewed faith is society. Holy shit. Well played.

Thanks guys. I love the old TE cars, the T series is a stout little motor for what it is. Really though any old RWD Toyota car gives me a chubby.
I thought about doing the honda electronics thing but DIYAutoTune had a huge sale so I picked up a MS3x, plus I have installed a few of them so it is familiar.

toying around with the idea of running anti lag when i move up to a bigger turbo, Toyota was kind enough to put air injection ports in the head for me.

Quality intro. As far as the pulser, don't worry about it. I have never had a need for mine other then fucking around. I actually weld better without the pulser.

Pulse has it's place but for a hobby welder skip it.
-
Thanks, so do you think then out of those 2 I should go for the everlast unit? From the bit of reading I have done on the internet they seem like a quality china unit, but it is down on features and extras over the WSE-200 unit. Thoughts or opinions on that?
-
Here is the one I will probably get for my personal machine.
http://www.eastwood.com/tig-welders-eastwood-tig-ac-dc-welder.html (http://www.eastwood.com/tig-welders-eastwood-tig-ac-dc-welder.html)
-
And if you get one of these chinese welders, check the torch and see if it says WP17 or WP9 on it. If it says WP17 then you need to replace it with a $20 WP9 torch for doing more precision type welds.
-
Thanks for the tip, that Eastwood unit looks great and it is in my price range. Also it comes with a pedal which is a plus, the everlast unit does not.
-
Your a quality noob. We would like to see you stay.

Thats fine, I love the way it looks personally it will be a great sleeper. It handles surprisingly well for an ancient old car with a decent set of tires on it, biggest downfall is the slow/dead feeling steering box, and the brakes overheat real easy (non vented) I have a set of MK1 Supra strut casings , hubs and complete brakes at a friends house I am going to try and buy and throw on it someday which will help immensely in that department. Also going to add a panhard bar to try and tighten up the rear and de arch or flip the eyes on the leafs. In the far off future I think I will attempt to convert it to a steering rack.
-
I want one of those mini lathes. I dont have space for a real one at the house.
Nice intro thread. The first redhead FTW
-
So um, where did this go? Fast? Hurt people's feelings? Anti lag?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Still have it but I got a job across the country, so I took the turbo off to drive it across the country. I am currently 900miles into the 3500 mile trek.(left Friday) I will be putting all my turbo business on it again sometime in the future. I really want more power in the car.
So far the diff has let go on me but luckily it happened in a city I have friends in and hopefully tomorrow parts.
I still have my antilag/ms3x stuff. Was going to do it like a stock evo or wrc alltrac and pump air in from the BOV into the exhaust manifold/AIR ports in the head and pull some timing. Hopefully once my life settles down I will get back into it full swing.
-
Ah, well i'm glad you still have it and drive it.
