Cargo bikes rule. Im going to build one for my summer daily.
Copenhagen Cargo Bikes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0SEpVo33AM#ws)

I see this becoming important in Portlandia. :noel:
But seriously I like the practicality of it.
Those kind of bikes could melt away a lot of fluff off us NOGS. :noel:

I cycle allot during the summer time and I still have plenty of fluff.LOL
I think with the optional electric assist this is something people would actually use. Something along these lines.

This is what I ride right now. I have about killed this thing. The bottom bracket is making noise and the chain rings are wore the fuck out. It needs a new saddle as well. If this thing was a horse it would be dead.

Im thinking something like this with a longer back on it and some saddle bags.

Nonsense. Road bike or die.

The bike I already have is close enough to a road bike. I did that allot when I was young as well. I guess im getting old,but a nice cargo bike with a 1000w 48volt hub motor sounds like the shit to me.

An old high school friend of mine builds cargo bikes in San Diego.
This is his most recent one. The Alcohauler

Saweeet! Get that guy on here.

I might be able to, but there is a 99% chance he won't post porn. Lol

I dont think anyone would mind if he just posts bicycles.
-
I FB messaged. We will see. I don't know how much internet stuff he does these days.
-
i'm on the internet like porn on computers. i'll put som fab pics up when i get a spare 10 seconds. the show is very close now so gotta keep crankin
-
I think some sort of roller at the back of the cargo box and a 1000w 48v hub motor (yea I know lazy ;DDD ).

If you're going to power it, why dont you just buy a motorcycle?

Cargo Motorcycle 8) :noel:

You can also put gasoline engines on these instead of electric hub motors but that kinda defeats the purpose. Anything to mechanical and you wont be able to park right in front of the door at the grocery store.
-
a little moped engine hidden away would probably be the best ticket. I wouldn't want to be stranded with a bike full of shit and not be able to pedal it up a hill. Plus, real batteries are heavy.

Actually the batteries that are used with these are pretty light (like cordless drill type). On a mountain bike there is a youtube video of a guy that does 20+ MPH for 30 miles. A couple of kicks from stop and off he goes. If you need more than that then bring another battery.
I sensing a build thread coming on ;DDD

You faggots need to see Luke's (LFP) widow maker.

That is rad.
I really want a better bike. I like to think that would motivate me to ride, but I don't trust anyone on the road.
The Alcohauler is titties for sure.
-
Looking for my donor bike and im going to build this over the weekend. Starting with a decent quality steel mountain bike. Get rid of the knobby tire and put on a high pressure street tire.
-
You are going to have a hard time finding a good quality steel bike. Even the shitty bikes are aluminum these days.
I got lucky and a nice old aluminum trek frame fell into my lap a few years ago. It was the perfect size for me. I built it up light, but durable and put some fat street tires on it. It was great for charging around bar to bar wasted.
-
Lots of people still make steel mountain frames. Aluminum bikes are shitty.
-
I am in Florida.

Is there a build thread for this? I want one.
-
Nonsense. Road bike or die.
Never been down a trail on a proper bike? I love it. I get to run over logs and jump shit, what do you do on your road bike thats so awesome? I find riding on the street kinda boring.
-
bomb hills go 65mph scare the shit out of myself.
-
I see... that would be fun! I don't think there is anywhere around here I could get up to 65 mph though. Fastest Ive been on my mountain bike is about 45 that was down a hell of a hill.
-
This thing is bad ass.

Any updates or is anybody building one yet?
-
I wish I lived in an area I could make use of something like that. I live in a city where you pretty much can't survive without a car. There is a 2sqmi area of downtown where you can almost live completely with just a bike, but not completely.
