Title: Rigid Collars for Subframes
Post by: 92CXyD on March 19, 2012, 09:50:37 PM
After seeing this http://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=8179&idcategory=386 (http://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=8179&idcategory=386)
and

Watching this Rigid Collar - Spoon Sports Europe - English Version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWyUD6UXfog#noexternalembed-ws)

Thinking $250 is rather steep.

I wonder what would be RHMT's solution to this, other than welding the sub frame to the rest of the car?  :noel:

ok...ish.

so i like the idea, and im sold there... but like in all the pictures they show, these are no signs of movement of the crossmembers/subframes once installed. sure you can see the misalignment, bit not of the movement.

i was looking for one for a CRX, then flipped back to this page, notcied you said $250bucks... fuck that... lmk what you find LOL.

couple things came to me after hitting submit...

one, i see a CRX front crossmember and no listing of a CRX...

Brand: Spoon Sports
Product: Subframe Rigid Collar Kit
Part Number: 50261-FN2-000 (FN2)
Part Number: 50261-AP1-000 (AP1, AP2)
Part Number: 50261-GE8-000 (GE6, GE8, GB3, ZF1)
Part Number: 50261-FD2-000 (FD2, FD3, EP3, DC5, GD1, GD2, GD3, GD4)
Part Number: 50261-EKA-000 (EK4, EK9)
Part Number: 50261-DCR-000 (DC2, DB8, EG2, EG6, EG9)
Part Number: 50261-RB1-000 (CL7, CL9, CU2, RB1, RB3, RR3, UA5)

then i remembered about something i just bought for the CRX, and that i have used before...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/310322337803?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/310322337803?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649)

on the left/middle area you will notice 4 collars, they are used to bump up the size of the bolts as they are too small (sound familiar?)... whats stopping you/us from just finding or making collars for each size we need or come across?

i think ill swing by the hardware store on the way home tomorrow. see what i can find? i think i have seen something like this before somewhere...

also i notice that the SPOON one there has it go into both sizes and in between the two, i dont see a need? just into the bolted on piece should be plenty enough?

I knew you guys would come up with cost effective ways.

I knew $250 was a little too steep.

Curious to see what a nog can do for than $50 in parts and labor.  :noel:
