Just heard on the news that the founders and programmer were sentenced to a year in prison and a fine of $3.5M. Did a bit of reading on the TPB forums and the lack of support for them is brutal.

i may have used it on occasion, fucking stupid that they got in trouble( if they really did, they play a lot of jokes over there)

torrents are a great idea though. pirate bay just did something wrong, that's all.
hell, you can get a ton of warez on rapidshare and all those hosting sites.

I don't use the site much anymore and there are plenty of others to use if it did go down. I don't understand why they prosecuted those people for the site but allowed it to keep running, though.

The Sealand bit was a joke. Ladonia, or more likely a small island, are a little more realistic.

It's not getting shut down, period.

The verdict for the trial was leaked several hours before it was announced. That will help with the appeal.
