Title: F22 sleeve thickness
Post by: bouncinofftherevlimiter on May 17, 2012, 02:38:36 PM
I've read a few posts about people wondering how thick F22 sleeves are and how far they can be bored, so I decided to find out. I had an extra F22A block, the first one that was in my boat anchor slut that spun a main at the strip after 14 consecutive passes without a break.

I am sending the block to the scrap yard this weekend, and they give you $.10 more a lb if all the steel is out of it, so I took multiple hammers, punches and chisels and went to town, here is the end result....

Then I thought about the whole sleeve thing...

Then got out my calipers...

And it looks like the sleeves are about .075 thick, so do the math, and I don't know how thin you want to get before it is unsafe, but I guess it gives you a good place to start from if nothing else...
