That's a nice gun.

I've always wanted a Glock 21, but I have heard the grip is a little thick, and I have small hands. I've also wanted a Kimber Stainless Custom II, but the Glock seems like a much easier weapon to own.

I have an XD45 personally and love it :)  Take a look at the XD models before coming to a final decision.  I was handed a similarly priced glock when I was looking for guns and it really felt cheap compared to the XD, even though they're both polymer...  Haven't had a jam yet and have blown too much money on rounds.

My buddy had a G17, and we were shooting at a snake, he dropped it in the sand, picked it up and unloaded the rest of the clip. He said he could bury it in the sand and it would fire perfectly. I actually prefer the look of the XD, I'll have to check it out. I've got until October to decide. Birthday present from the wife!

Anyone own or have fired a FNHerstal? I've heard they make a weapon similar to a Sig but better quality.

Nice gift :)

From what I've heard, being able to bury it in the sand isn't a big deal as far as "it's not uncommon."

i have a KC II as well. it's bulky for daily carry, but i absolutely love it.

for the money, i would say that the xd series is the best you can get. you should go to a gun range and rent both, and see what you enjoy more.

I've been carrying a glock 26 for a little more than 2 years.  I started carrying when I moved to a more densely populated neighborhood

I'm left handed.  I've got a few bolt-ons too...

This is my next mod so I can carry open trigger with one in the chamber:

I don't have any idea how you guys carry full frame pieces daily.

Tre go shoot many rentals.  I probably fired 10 different guns before making a decision...  and look up how many glock owners have unintentional discharges.  The two loudest sounds you will hopefully never hear are a click when you expect a bang and a bang when you want a click.

A well maintained glock with quality ammunition will give you a bang when you expect to hear one...  As for the second part that's up to you...

The only issues I have with glock is the trigger. Because you pull two of them, and the amount of trigger pull is quite a bit, your shots without knowing the gun will end up down of what you think you're aiming at.

Haven't shot the xd, but held it and thought the slide was too wide. It's also got that funny two trigger deal, but haven't shot it so I don't know if the pull is as far as the glock.

Of course the one I'm familiar with is my girlfriend, the S&W M&P9C.

The newest small handgun that sparked my interest is the Taurus PT709 slim. I have a fetish with small, thin handguns, but originally I thought it'd be a good one for wifemode to carry around as well.

i almost bought a glock 30, untill i held the taurus 24/7 compact.  i love my 24/7, its shorter than the glock and a good bit cheaper, shoots awesome too.

Sounds like you're anticipating the shot and leaning into it.

Trigger job/shaving the grip is the first thing you should do to a glock. It isn't worth shooting until then...

I can't wait to fire a Glock and an XD to see the difference. I actually prefer the look of the XDM to any weapon I've considered so far, but I'm ultimately going to buy what feels most comfortable for me. I will know when I hold it.

Dislike:

Ugly as fuck and kind of uncomfortable (houge slip on fixes this)  Trigger is also mushy

Pros:

Everything else, capacity, reliability, accuracy. etc etc.

To an extent I could see where you're coming from, but I'm used to having soft hands, and not the nervous type. The first mag through had so much trigger pull before striking that my finger pulled the muzzle down. After the first mag I adjusted for it, but it was still ackward for the amount of pull the trigger had.

Trigger reset...  After your first shot keep the trigger depressed, you know hold it down.  For your second shot slowly release the trigger 'till you feel it click, then take your next shot.  You do not need to fully release the trigger w/a glock.  So you'll only have to deal with the long pull on your first shot.

I love the XD, but not its trigger.....

Think Im doomed to not like any double action triggers...

BUT XD40 is a great gun.

A guy in the CIA technical dept. does my trigger work.  I was the same way, but the guy works wonders
