Dont feel like doing research, can a y8 cam be swapped in a y5 head? or is it just completely different, I have a y5 longblock sitting in my garage with a rod ejected out of the pan. Just want to know info about it. Are the intake manis the same? look similar.

i believe y5 and y8 rocker assembly are totally different but you can swap out the whole rocker assembly with cam around. the y5 also uses roller rockers. rock the y5 jeff..
the y5 intake manifold may be the same as a z6.

yeah but from what Ive heard is you can fit the y8 cam in there
-
wow y5 rockers are roller.
Would they interchange with any other v-tec rocker assymblies? ;D
-
i would ask turbo4life. he has messed around with all of that y5 shizzle
-
99 percent sure you cant swap camshafts a buddy of mine got really deep into these heads a couple years back and he had a camshaft reground by crower just for the y5 head.
The manifolds d16y8/y5 I know are identical minus the fact that the d16y5 has a egr port/egr valve on them.
-
Port sizes the same? I know the z1 head compared to other D series has much smaler ports along with the roller rockers like the y5...Im gonna say the cams won't swap, believe the profiles a lot different because of the use of roller rockers
-
Y5 heads ports are just like other vtec model that make solid power. The only thing holding that motor back is that uber small camshaft

will a d16z6 head fit on a d15b7 bottom
