Title: widebands?
Post by: turbohf on January 20, 2013, 12:33:45 AM
ok, its been 10years since i have bought a wideband. and when i bought that one, im sure there wasnt many on the market and i bought the jewish one out there, for the jewest of deals.  :Jew:

so yeah, i still have my PLX M300. works great far as i can tell.

but i have 3 cars, and it kinda tiresome swapping it around. all 3 at this point look like they will be running the same engine management, AEM, and i will be datalogging threw my laptop. i will be hardwired them to the car.

now i have always kinda liked the digital gauge there. but kinda scary keeping an eye on the road and the WB at the same time. and in the CRX lately i have just been making pulls, then checking the logs. it is nice for quick reference tho.
but i dont like gauges. especially when visible to the public.

hardwired/datalog only:
Innovative $141
AEM $200
PLX $150

gauge:
Innovative $158
AEM $160
PLX $ 196

so hows the quality and accuracy on these things these days? these are all big companys, so im sure they are topnotch?

I have LC-1 with gauge in the prelude and 240, i have the older style in the prelude and the newer one in the 240, they have both been trouble free since ive had them..

I've tuned my 240 completely off this wideband and it read pretty damn close on the dyno.. within a couple tenths

Good enough accurate in my book

Plx m300.....

i need something more concealed. plus the new m300s are almost 300bucks. watching a used one for almost 200... all the above are cheaper, and std 52mm gauges.

The m300 is a solid unit. That the one I rocked forever. But in the teg I was limited for space. I did a bunch of work on a friend's car and he gave me holder style of this one. Same thing just not a touch screen. For $200 its a Damn solid unit!

One of the problem with the aem unit is that its inaccurate.

I remember reading a huge wideband shootout a magazine did a few years ago. The lc1 had one of the best overall ratings. I have always had innovate stuff. Had 2 lc1's and now I have an lm2.

AEM junk
Innovate dead in six month's
PLX trashed in magazines but never dies (M250/300 anyway) and reads the same as all four of my deceased Innovates.

NGK AFX is your best bang for the buck.  Bosch based widebands only get you into the ballpark, they are not accurate.

Mitch, three LC-1 dead a week out of the six month warranty.  Add in the bitchy moany forced recals from low battery situations common in tuning and they are to awkward to fool with.  LM-2 died a year and a half ago, whatever controls the sensor's heater circuit doesn't anymore.

First, Bosch sensors aren't accurate.  Second, AEM china units read all over the place from unit to unit, so the one in the article was probably cherry picked for the review... and it still sucked.

I've better luck with my 14point7 SLC Pour Plus than the AEM UEGO I had before.  :noel:

I've nothing else yet, I've seen thread about this d-series.  :noel:

I had an lc1 die about a yer out of warranty. They fixed it free. I have no innovate complaints. My lm2 has the ability to change that, but so far so good.

JD, what do you tune with?

I have an m300 that's been sitting in a box for a couple years now.  It was used for about a month as I was getting my old daily dialed in.  I'd do $150 shipped.

I just pulled it out of the box and it looks like there are some bubbles between the tint and plexi on the front display.  I noticed it when I put it away and it's gotten worse but it could be fixed with a few minutes and a couple square inches of window tint.

You can at least confirm its close by checking the plugs. Or sticking your duck I. The exhaust like I do and checking the color
