i picked an 02 civic up for nothing, literally. The catch is it wont go into any gears, i looked at where the shifter cable goes into the trans and its moving fine just wont select gears. I know the older d series trans would break shift forks but they would normally get stuck with a gear selected, this is just stuck in neutral. any info on these newer civics would be greatly appreciated.

My experiences with 7th gen civics can be summarized as such: burn it for insurance money, and buy a 96-2000. Its a lot easier and less stressful.

its actually getting cleaned up and getting sold, I'm gonna pull the shifter assembly out of the trans tomarrow and see wtf. This thing looks like a fucking headache to work on.

figured it out. theres a bolt that holds the gear selector to a shaft that the cables move. the bolt that holds everything together on the shaft backed out. fished everything out of the trans (except the bolt that ran through some gears) some of the gears are scored up but it shifts and drives like butter. ill post pics of her all shined up and maybe a free car ripper vid.
