is that music you made or did you steal that shitty music and post it there?
I can play the drums, but not great. mostly slower easy stuff, but I don't have a drum set anymore

What ever you are using to record it you have the volume or gain up too high.
Almost sounds like you are playing into a mic to record it. I really thought an og of the original hmt is smart enough to figure out a way to record clean sound.

Good interfaces are high dollar.

The solution is throwing money at the problem, so i just use what I have.

Dollar store logic

Computer sound card and DSP.  Do work.

Post by: rawr on July 10, 2013, 11:31:34 AM
That is dsp over an interface.

Stepping up to a higher quality interface/ sheilding  wall power / buying decent monitors / ribbon mic / decent mixer etc is what is pricey, bros.

I used to be pretty into it. had a small studio in my house and a decent collection of guitars. I still have quite a few layin around but haven't really played much in the last 10 years. I'd love to get back into it when I grow up.

I listened to a few of your songs, you are a decent player but I have a hard time listening to the music because the time is so poorly kept.

yeah the time thing pisses me off.

between monitoring/recording there's a lag in recording and unstable monitoring. It seems like when the VSW shit stacks, the processing/time thing gets destroyed.

Also, I can play something perfect 100000000 times, go to record it and play it decent 1:100000.

not bad, It sounds like your kind of making the lead up as you go along. Might want to have more of it planned out before recording.

Yeah im just freestyling as I go along.

I learned a few more tricks to maintain phase, correct interface latency and attenuating with a di box into my preamp so my guitars arent clipping with the gain cranked all the way down.

Learning to record is a lot more involved than I assumed it would be.

you can record with something like this pretty easy.

Latency issues are still there and still need corrected in the daw to make sure its on time and in phase.

i'm using a focusrite scarlet at the moment. The equipments good, I just need more time on it

I don't see how you can use a loop pedal to record. It will only record a short clip then loop it back so you can play over it.

I don't play much any more, but I mix a lot of live shows. I mix with a Allen and Heath gld80 digital board and use Dante vertual sound card (audio over eathernet) to record shows with pro tools or Logic Pro.

The focusrite looks like a nice interface. I use a presonus firebox at home. What software are you recording with?

Your music sounds good keep it up.

Well, I do it.  No latency issues either.

I re-read the description on that thing. Sounds pretty cool. SD card for memory and USB.

I still think the $200 would be better spent on a focusrite or similar box and recording software. Better control and editing of fx, eq, dynamics as well as multiple tracks and midi integration.

Loopers are cool for what they are intended, but using one for a professional sounding recording is like using a fmu to tune your  turbo civic. It gets the job done but not great results.

Using cubase 5. Ive tried some others and didn't like them like sonar, but haven't used protools. These recording software guys are pretty brutal with their authentication lol

I've used qubase 3&4 a little bit. I own Logic Pro and like it for the money(sorry I'm a mac guy). I use pro tools quite a bit as well. They are crazy with the price and licensing. Not only do you have to cough up big money for the software, you have to purchase an ilock key to put your license on. Then you have to purchase any fx/dynamics plug-ins you want to use. Cuebase is affordable and affective. I here a lot of people talk about ableton live. Would like to play around with that.
