I thinks the terrist gonna hack my car!
Seriously though, what if someone were to hack a city's system to tell all the cars in that city that they all have a green light. Shit would be devastating.
-
efef
-
Or hacked a spare car ecu and threw out a bunch of bad location data and bad movement commands and amplified that over a large area.
-
It's bad enough cars have tire pressure sensors designed to freak women out. Fuck technology

Most women won't even notice a ligth that comes on the instrument cluster. The car would have to ding or make some weird noise for theem to notice. Or you can go backwards in time like my nova. It doesn't even have a temperature gauge from the factory. Has a speedo and fuel gauge. That's it....lol

Unless it becomes mandated this will never happen.

A little off topic, but they are clueless about aircraft autopilot. Unless there is some shit in the airlines I don't know about...... Pretty sure I'm right though.
I have never in my life seen an autopilot that will veer off the programmed path no matter what other planes are near by. They will tell you there is a plane, what altitude and its location, but it will keep flying straight.

theres probably some shit in the airlines that you dont know about. I know theres definitely a bunch of autonomous shit in military craft that can do this. Maybe not what troops are flying now but it exists to a ridiculous level ( can sense and map people and vehicle movements on the ground and air and feed back to control systems) shits crazy.
-
i dont doubt the technology exists, i highly doubt its in the airlines. i have some airline pilot friends though, ill ask them.
-
that will never happen in our life time. too many people are already afraid to fucking fly. no one would trust it even before the first accident.

From my "limited" aviation background, the only way I could see this working is if the TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System) was tied into the autopilot so that when a ground controller identifies a "potential collision" it automagically would then push a mutual avoidance maneuver to the autopilot system, in-fact, I am quite sure that there are commercial airline TCAS systems that do interact with newer gen auto pilot systems.

What is funny about this comment is the simple fact that most tactical aircraft in the military in-fact don't have TCAS, pretty much all of the cargo/transport aircraft do though. There is also a militarized version of the TCAS that combines an IFF interrogator in the system to tell the crew what aircraft it is, what altitude, heading etc etc based upon it's mode C that all aircraft transmit.
Enough work talk.

I'll find out next time an airline pilot walks through the shop. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong and ill tell you. But I'm pretty sure I'm not.

Seems airbus has an autopilot that when engaged and there is a RA then it will perform an avoidance maneuver.

Reaction to a resolution advisory at present can only be flown manually
I made a different statement before, but re-read it and see programming is in the works to have the autopilot complete the avoidance maneuver. It seems that it isn't currently in use though.

Which is why OEMs are already releasing drive by wire cars, and why OEMs are also stating by which model year they will be offering self-driving cars. Derp.
Step back and behold the nanny state fucktardery that is encroaching upon our civilization.

I always figured drive by wire was in preperation for the government to control us.
I have never embraced it as a good thing. I'll keep my 2000 crv running forever. Those assholes will never control my right foot
-
Drive by wire = why all those toyotas and dodges go nuts. They try to pass it off as floor mats etc
-
Actually, typo on my part. I meant
STEER by wire
No mechanical linkage between wheel and steering rack.
-
That should never exist. Too dangerous. Maybe the goal is population control. They can turn off the steering on cars driven by people that are too smart for the governments own good. Then they can also set the TB wide open and wait for you to plow into a cement wall. Watch how many cars with Obama hate stickers on their cars end up totaled with dead occupants.
-
I wonder how motorcycles fit in to this picture or any other sort of non conventional vehicle.
I wont miss 5 hour drives at all, though.
-
I really prefer the G.T. steering. (Grunt & Twist)

All these innovations to save lives...
Do they realize we're running out of space and food?
We need:

probably too obscure for this board.

I would love to see natural selection let loose and allowed to handle its business again. A few less handrails and warning labels would be nice.

thats the way it is in other country's. Ive been walking in Mexico and there was a hole in the sidewalk about 7' deep and 4'x4' wide. No signs, cones just nothing. I have been in Jamaica and have seen similar things. But here in "Merica" everyone will lawyer up to get some money for shit like this.....

The interesting thing is that a lot of 1st world socialist countries don't have so many handrails, warning labels etc. Canada is fairly similar to the USA is that respect, but slightly less. All the skateparks here are open 24/7, there are no fences, no security, and you sure as fuck don't have to sign any waivers to enter no matter how old you are. No signs saying "use at your own risk" or anything. In San Diego before I was 18 I had to have a parent signature to enter a skatepark, wear full safety gear... The fences were always at least 10' tall surrounding the place.
I was in Spain 5 years ago and was also surprised how little signage and safety guards there were. There was this really nice deck in Barcelona going out over the Mediterranean, probably about 100'x200', cantilevered out over the sea, no railings no nothing, you could just jump right off into the sea if you like(about 15' high). People were going right up to the edge with their babies and strollers, no big deal.

I wish this country was that way
