Title: obd2 to obd1 vg33e?
Post by: ironcrx on November 12, 2013, 01:54:57 PM
So as most everyone knows, I'm working with a nissan s12 armed with a vg30e which is obd0.  Future motor swap will be a vg33e which I'm pretty sure runs obd2.  The reason I am unsure is because the emergence of the VG33E is right when obd2 is standard. Sooo it's an obd2 only motor?

My car being setup for obd0 sucks for future engine management so I'm wondering if there's an obd1 vg30e or something similar enough

Running my car obd2 will be pricey with emissions (I dont mean cali standard) just enough to get it right.

Or am I completely thinking this all wrong?

you can make it whatever OBD you want if you find an ecu and harness you want to run and take the steps to run it (adapting process critical sensors)

93ish pathfinder vg30e is probably obd1

pathfinder up to 95 are vg30e and obd1.  minimal emissions as well.

Megasquirt? The nissan dizzy will run in the "Distributor" mode really easy using the existing six slots in the dizzy. IIRC set the trigger to falling edge. makes for a MUCH simpler wiring harness and allows you to block off all the useless nissan bullshit.
