Title: F22b1/2 Backyard budget build...Noob post
Post by: mtnickel on November 22, 2013, 07:58:40 PM
Hey guys,
Sorry I have no pics yet, but wanted to get a noob thread in before someone tears me a new one.

Basically doing up a dirt cheap f22b1 or b2 build looking for 220-300whp...whatever I can get.

Had a cb7 f22a6 14b turbo back in the day and loved that thing. Now I drive a cd5 (97 accord 4dr) and thought I'd go H23 Bluetop vtec to keep the OEM reliability. Sure it's realiable, but vtec is ass compared to an f22 turbo. Vtec is like waiting for a massive turbo to spool (5000rpm) only to find minimal gains in power. Perhaps with an H series tranny it wouldn't have been so bad, but regardless, I need that 200+ft/lb torque at 3000rpm.

Build is with a VF39 Sti turbo I picked up for $150 because the wastegate area has a crack.
Toyed with a beefier piston idea... Found out Genesis 2.0T pistons are a superb fit for the F22 if you bore to 86mm. However, valve reliefs are backwards, and if you turn the piston you will have an incorrect offset.
Thinking I may just go with Speed-Pro hypereutectic pistons. Should have a little more strength and insurance than stock. Though with seeing the big numbers being put up on junkyard F22 blocks here, maybe I shouldn't even touch the bottom end.

Other parts are just what I had lying around:
obdI on crome with ostrich 2 and Innovate WB
2.5 Bar $30 motorolla Map sensor
440cc injectors with new seals and pintles from injector Rehab
Ebay $90 T3 manifold
homemade adapter plate
same side intercooler
1g BOV
2.5" catback and garage made DP
F1 Racing Xtreme clutch (apparently has 2000lb pressure plate...will give some feedback when I get er' running).
Arp Studs
King bearings
timing belt/seals/valve stems/hg all being done while the pistons are being put in

Sorry I have no pics or porn, but they are on the way!

Oh,
Also have another Project that might be worth mentioning.

74 Datsun 260z and throwing an RB25Det in it
lots of home made mods being done.
- Welded oil pan on backwards and moved sump.
- Red wrinkle painted the Valve covers, black block paint
- Using a toyota AE86 rad
- GTR intercooler
- STI 535cc side feed injectors
- Ebay Greddy Style IM
- Kinugawa 18g turbo
- home mode engine mounts

Guess I'll have to do up a thread for that too.

Ciao!

gonna have to agree with this statement.

you have no pics of your cars/parts/turbo/etc nor nudes of girls... boring ass thread...

also, way more interested in this 260z than the accord/f22 thing... that needs a post... dont forget what was said above tho  ::)

Obviously you're friends with a member or members on this forum that have been heckling you about making an intro thread.

Post some porno and some car shit.  We can't have some no car having ass faggot posers in here or this place would simply turn into honda tech, zilvia or one of those other shitty nooks in the internet where no pussy getting spinless chumps go to jerk eachother off.

From what i read it seems like you got some dope shit to bring to the table.  Fucking bring it.

Stock 8.8:1 CR leaves a lot of room for error, which is why they can be withstand abuse. They won't last forever, but they'll last long enough if you're only using 440cc injectors. Just file the ring gap a little larger based on typical recommendations for your power goal. If you do go with forged pistons, the H22 rods with 4g63 stroker pistons are the way to go. (k596m85, http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/parts/wiseco_4g63_evo_pistons.htm (http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/parts/wiseco_4g63_evo_pistons.htm)). It gives you 8:1 CR on a stock F22 block/head, a better RS ratio, and can be done cheap if you get stock H22 rods (shotpeened or not).

I really want to make the Genesis 2.0T pistons work. i know they will be pretty darn tough, just have to make them fit.

I'm thinking I will create a basic jig on my drill press along with a 1.5-2" sanding disk. Then Line up the jig to a stock f22 piston, swap in the genesis one and grind away till it matches the same depth. I could also take it to a machine shop, but who knows what they'll charge.

the 10:1 compression ratio isn't my favorite for turbo, but most on here just call me a baby for saying such things. Just needs a good tune really. Be nice if I could add maybe a 1-2mm dish to get it down another 1/2 point or so.

I'll try and update this with some pics. Sorry for the lack there of. Not sure if the porn is mandatory but it's not really my thing. Guess I'll have to make up for it with really detailed car shots.

What I got.  20 psi daily, over 70k miles and still going strong.

Bigger motors, higher comp and pump gas; can make power reliably!
