Well it looks like the YB will finally go the way of HMT. I doubt there will be an organized effort similar to RHMT to remake it.

I don't see much wrong with buying a very busy forum. But, don't change anything about it. The HMT sale wouldn't have been an issue if nothing was changed. Instead we got VB and told we couldn't post porn and call each other niggers.

you have to make the site sponsor friendly and sell enough ads yo turn a profit while the site is still relevant.
I don't have a problem with anyone buying or selling a website, but assuming the user base won't react negatively is idiotic on the investors part.

The irony with that mentality is two-pronged. 1) The majority of internet traffic is PORN and 2) cutting out the heart of the user base makes it far less profitable than finding sponsors that can look the other way.
What I really don't get: who the fuck cares what the user base is talking about or posting?? Roadside billboards still advertise to car thieves, serial killers, gangbangers, tweaking truckers, racists, etc.

What I can't figure out is, they see a forum with lots of traffic and posting. They buy it cause they like what they see, then completely change it. Those people were there cause they liked it the way it was. If you don't like a forum, just make your own rather than buy one and ruin it

ALL forums have a list of email addresses, which can be sold to the lowest bidder to make a nickel. Thats how it works. Advertising be damned, the larger the site the more the list is worth.
