Title: Electric turbos
Post by: SloS13 on February 08, 2014, 10:50:03 AM
I haven't been around for a while, and I'm sorry.

I am awaiting arrival of my electric turbo for my FR-S.  http://www.phantomsuperchargers.com/scion-frssubaru-brz.html (http://www.phantomsuperchargers.com/scion-frssubaru-brz.html)

Bring on the hate.

It's like The Walking Dead.  We all have the gay.  You will realize this when you kill the man who is screwing your wife because she thought you were dead.

$1500 for a true 30whp+ bolt on that looks to only use half a dozen parts doesn't seem that bad, considering the alternatives (virtually none). The ems tuning options available alone start at 1/3 that price alone, and this doesn't seem to need ems tuning to get 90% of the gains.

Those numbers are pretty impressive, for a lame fucking idea.  I remember reading a rumour that Nissan was testing some type of electric or chain driven turbo to eliminate lag, but this is when the R34 went away and there were near constant rumours about everything GT-R.  I would assume that there is some kind of clutch involved for when the exhaust took over.
