I know this doesn't concern 99.9% of you, but whatever. K-Pro won't work on the civics, so they came up with something else. http://www.hondata.com/flashpro.html (http://www.hondata.com/flashpro.html)
* Programmable ECU interface.
* Connects via OBDII diagnostic port.
* USB 2.0 connection
* Works with Laptop or Desktop
* No ECU modification necessary.
* 90 second ECU programming time.
* 20 hours on board datalogging memory.
* FlashProManager Windows software.
* Check and clear diagnostic codes.
* Custom laptop gauges.
* Theft mitigation
2006+ Civic Si / Civic Type R tuning features
* Choice of AFM or MAP based tuning.
* Support for MAP based forced induction.
* Support for larger injectors.
* Ignition, fuel, cam angle table editing.
* VTEC window.
* Rev, launch and speed limiters.
* Race vehicle sensor disabling (what is this?)
* Plus other compensation and trim tables.
* Map tracing
As of now there are no products that will do all of this. Disregarding cost and the fact that it's from Hondata, what are/could be the potential drawbacks from a tuning standpoint?
-
* Race vehicle sensor disabling (what is this?)
I think that is a speed gov. you can disable
-
Makes sense... it's electronically limited @ 133 right now. I haven't hit the limit personally.
-
I may have to buy this soon, who knows. Don't like Hondata but the price is fair.

Actually, I just realized it's not the speed governor bc it specifies right above "speed limiter".
I heard Cobb is coming out with the AccessPort... lol Hondata vs Cobb... is Hondata really the lesser of two evils? OBD1 chipping > OBD2 CAN network, flashing BS.
-
Well it looks like Cobb is the first to put their product on the market -

Hondata has announced a release date of late June.
-
does it work as Hondata Flashpro does?
thing bad is USDM only :-\
Hondata flaspro will works with JDM/EDM cars too, i think Cobb advice will works too in EDM cars but , im not sure ...

$700 with no tuning software? Jeez I bought my used AEM EMS for $500.
Here, this is $300 cheaper new, and has factory support who arent complete fucking assholes.

Yeah, I've heard nothing but bad things about Cobb from competent folks. For the H-T crowd, it's perfect.
The product mentioned above can only load pre-made maps by Cobb (no end-user tuning). They are beta testing for a product (AccessTUNER?) that is end user tunable.
FlashPro on the other hand, is a tuning unit... it will come with a few basemaps but that won't be the selling point.
-
I've played with the cobb awhile back(buddy of mine got the first beta unit outside of anyone that worked at cobb), The flashing unit works ok, just flashes a program, it picked up power, and the car felt better. Not worth 500 in my eyes, not that the kpoop reflash is either.
I'm supposed to get to play with the accesstuner soon.
-
subaru has the same thing for $100 with more features plus lets you code simple add-on's for free
If it uses the OBDII diagnostic port I'm assuming it could work for most cars (with the right software). What is it?
-
Flashpro only lets you tune one ecu. If you want to tune another, you have to clear the map from the previous ecu. Typical hondata bullshit. Without software these are just really expensive chips which we all know are crap.
-
I tune an 07 WRX on Monday, complains of odd driveability. $10 says those problems go away at some point between unmarrying his Accessport and beginning to tune.
After seeing a couple threads where guys using freeware are calling Christian @ Cobb to point out oddities, so he can include it in his gear and not cost people their engines, it's pretty apparent Cobb got where they were by paying for a lot of magazine articles. Sort of like Hondata.
As far as Cobb vs Hondata... AFAIK, Cobb hasn't sued anyone developing freeware in a bid for market domination.
-
I put money on too damn rich and not enough timing. Feels kind of like when the exhaust is rattling against the chassis causing phantom knock, car's fine at 1/4 throttle and then falls on it's face.
-
Yes, Johnny.
-
i got a package for some customers here in Spain..
we will test them soon!
