Into a car that once held the record of the heaviest doors at 110# each.

This looks to have a lot of potential.  :noel:

gunna do a lq motor and a 6 speed.

get the body work done and painted, new interior

probably going to be a slow process

not sure where to start, what makes the most sense.

motor and tranny conversion first?

interior??? (cheaper??)

body & paint (expensive!)

I would do motor and trans, then interior, then body work. That way I'd you fuck up the paint while installing motor it's no big deal. Then the interior and so you can enjoy sitting in it while driving it. Then paint. Your gonna get looks no matter what you do. It's a old muscle car.

ya its a 70. 350 LT. so it was originally a 350 car but not a SS or z28

id probably go the route you are thinking, i thought of the same reasons, doing a motor swap and conversion with nice paint and stuff, just seems like i'd do something to fuck it up

the engine in it now is a 383. don't know much about it has some cam and dunno about the heads they are cast iron though.

it runs ok has decent power for a old engine but not a powerhouse by any means

if i don't go the mexican route, the body work and paint will be 8-10k  :-X

not sure how much i'll need to spend on a LQ + t56 swap. i'm guessing 3-4k

interior i'm not sure but a couple thousand i'm betting.

it a lot of moeny to dump into the car i see them restored on craigslist for 15-25k

Idk man. You can get a junkyard lq4 for around 500-1000. Depending on how complete/use able it is. Throw a big cam in it, some valve springs, some gaskets, and maybe bearings and rings and a srt of headers and just turn the key and enjoy it. Or just springs and throw some boost on it!! The t56 is the expensive part. Most I see on craigslist are in the 1700 range with the bellhousing. But for another 1300 you can get one that's new and beefed up a little.

i wanted to a the 6.0 lq motor, i think its lq9 but i would get a lq4 if it was cheap

oh you're right the lq4 is 6.0 the lq9 is too.

yea that the one i want. the tranny will be expensive :(

Only real difference between the lq4 and the lq9 is compression. Lq9 has flat top pistons and the lq4 is dished pistons. Both will make greater power and gobs of tq with minamum work.

i really wanted a 6.0 but they are pretty spendy and harder to find. might just do a turbo 5.3

Try to get a gen4 if you can. Stronger rods and floating pistons pins.

Try to find a 4th gen. Might be a couple hundred more then a Gen3 but the rods are way stronger.

some shitty shit happened over the last couple days lol

first off, i found a guy on craigslist selling two 5.3s with 100k miles for $800... $400 a piece. i was all over that shit immediately. he had to work, then he had to do this and that and finally he said "my brother sold them when i was at work". sounds legit. im sure he must've figured out how much they were worth. :(

then the camaro was running shitty with this old mallory dist and coil so my buddy (he is a total nigger rigger) was like yea i have some HEIs you can use one for a while it came out of a running car...  so i get it, has all the wires attached... so i'm like yea its probably fine. i put it in the car it idles great and cruises ok runs like shit wot but whatever. mess with it later

i drive it a couple days here and there and last night i go to portland, coming home about 10pm it dies right in the middle of columbia blvd. some ppl push it off the road onto a side street. no spark...

pull the cap off, pull the rotor... mechanical advance is fucked up. only one side has a spring on it, both sides have no bushing, the weights are flopping around inside... really this came off a running car? but that wasn't why it wasn't running. module or coil went to shit. probably module.

call my wife, she drives out with module off the bench... jb and i are playing soccer in some random street at 1am on columbia blvd lol. guess why the module was sitting on the bench with random shit? because its fucked up too. drive back home, put together a dist out of random parts. drive back, drop it in. runs like a sum bitch. actually feels like a 383 now.

got in bed at 5am.
