Title: wiseco rings on oem style piston?
Post by: shanerv on July 20, 2015, 06:41:17 PM
so the lsv hatch seemed to be loosing power and using oil lately after 15k+ of beating decided to take fresh comp test and at first seemed ok at 185-195 across all cylinders. lil low for lsv with gsr head. added oil boom went up to 235-245. so I figured I would toss a set of new rings in it. I have two of sets of wiseco rings around and took some rought measurements from them and compared it to used set of oem. looks to be within .0005 to .001 same  both thickness and depth.

just wanted to know if anybody has used them in oem b series piston. and if the would be different material since they were made for forged slug.
wiseco said they are different but i didn't get the feeling he actually looked up info as the answer was without delay or question on exact engine I was running.

well answered my own question. re checked rings oem to wiseco. after cleaning old rings turns out they are all the same thickness. but the wiseco rings are .004 on each side deeper on the second ring.

I was gonna say you should measure the them both and see if they would work.

If the Wiseco ring sets are new, they're an easy $50-75 each if you sell them. NPR rings are half that so you'll have a set of rings, a car to get you to the tittie bar, and money for beer & lap dances.
