650 CC two stroke! on a standup! Maybe turbo someday, surprising a lot of room in the engine bay.

Nice. Those things can be real cunts to get running right though. And I'd suggest using some quality oil (amsoil).
-
Fuck stand up, those things are Ball Punishers. Never understood why it worked that way but ive never ridden one that i could get up on easiely without dragging my balls trough a stream of water travling at roughly the speed of death.

death for you or your balllllz?
-
Just the balls.
They are mad fun but i get frustrated after a while and give up on it. Not fun when your belly starts hurting cause you've racked your self on this hardcore fucking Missleized water jet shooting at yoru balls each time you stand up on the bloody thing. Dude you are gonna be sterile.

stand up jetskis are the best. you just need to get the biggest engine you possibly can if you get one. or weigh 100lbs either way
you won't bust your nuts or drag yourself through the water if you have enough power to just mash the throttle and jump out of the water :)
650 is not the biggest standup or even close there are 1000cc stand ups! woo

Yeah hows that work? You are in water and the only thing you have to push against is either a)water or B) the 4 inches of rail on teh side where your arms would be. If you pull yourself up any farther your gonna have yoru face mashed into the handlebars. For the life of me i could not find a comfterble position where i had enough leverage to get up on it.
Only way i could stand on it was to situate myself off to the side a tad and then just use brute strength to pull myself up using just my arms against the water and on the sled. Too much work for it to be fun for me lol but i understand this could be cause im fuckign retarded.
-
you can put your knees on the ski. once it starts moving a little bit in the water pull yourself onto your knee then mash the throttle
if you have an underpowered ski then it will be really hard to stand up.
-
I think it was an old 600 something or another. Not too big but it would move when you mashed it.
Im gonna have to try the Knee trick next time.
-
i dont understand, i thought you stood on the jetski? do you ski behind it on your feet or some shit?

lol
you stand on it, but when you start off... you have to get it moving first, then put your knees on it, then stand up.
or not some people can just hit the gas and stand up. it depends on your skill, your weight, and the power of the ski.

i bought 2 of those last year i had a 650cc and a 750cc or something like that and as stated above the 750cc was not enough to get me out the water without alot of work then id fall off and have to go through the ball bashing again since then ive swore those mother fukers off!!!!!
-
I dunno, I've never tried a standup before, but they sound awesome, and are super lightweight compared to sitdowns. I know they make bigger ones nowadays, but I think for the old 1990 era skis 650 was near the top if not the biggest motor you could find. I'll keep this thread updated when I start tearing it apart. I already know the throttle/carb is stuck wide open, not sure the condition of the engine, but I imagine almost everything needs examined/reassembled.
-
i think you can get older 750cc.
they are a little underpowered, yamaha makes a new stand up i think its a 4 stroke
a new standup with the r1 motor, like their sit downs would be awesome
-
so I lied about keeping this thread updated, but now I've got the whole thing back together and running, well sort of.
Key points
-6 inches of salt water in the bottom of the hull from 1993 till now is a bitch.
-Had to rip out the impeller wear ring due to corrosion
-Used 3M window weld to glue the motor mounts back together
-Liberal application of sledgehammer on pistons to separate crankcase.
-Stockers came with 28mm carb, found out dude had upgraded the reeds, IM, and to a 44mm carb.
-rebuilt with new pistons and it started right up!
-got a new mikuni 44 super BN carb for it anyhow
Lasted for about 45 minutes, hard as shit to ride, but FUN, until my buddy bailed off on it and it drove itself into a boathouse and severed one motor mount.
-
not a very good friend
-
pictures of you jumping the jet ski off said friends head!!!!

Nice, I bought a jetski over the weekend. I went with a 93 Yamaha Superjet 650. It rips nicely.. even strong enough to pull a fatass like johnny out of the water :)
-
It's all good, it's not fun if you have to worry about breaking it. Actually he's a pretty good friend. His parents have a house right on the water with a floating dock so I'm keeping the ski over there.
And last weekend when we got it started for the first time by dumping some gas down the intake (carb wasn't quite working) he went out and ordered and bought a brand new carb for it just to get it running, so he's allowed to crash it if he wants. (new carb cost almost as much as the entire ski!) It makes for a funny story anyhow.
Anyways we got the motor back together today, just put bolts all the way through the torn rubber mounts so they can't separate this time.
Abaz how you like the superjet? This is my first standup and they are a lot tougher to ride than I thought! Fun though, just exhausting.

I hear you on that, seems like there sure is a lot of ball blasting involved in riding these lol.
-
Told you it was gonna sterilize you lol.
