Title: Should I buy????
Post by: onlyflash944 on May 14, 2009, 04:28:53 PM
'84 BMW 533I 4 door, 5 speed with LSD.  engine is locked up, owner thinks it was a poped head gasket and now the cyl is rusted.  sounds probable to me.  body great, no rust, one dent and bumper is 'pushed in' a little.  interior is black leather in good shape, drivers door window missing.  its been covered with a tarp so no water damage.  asking $550, I figured I'd offer $400 and see.

i've been wanting to use mega squirt for a while, i just have so many other projects going on it's not even funny.

that was my first german car. it is so balanced and fun to drive N/A. i would kill to get another one in great shape. put a set of coilovers on it, and go hit some twisties. for 400$, if you can find another block, and be done for 1000, you will be happy.

LOL.

I miss my old e36, but I didn't have an LSD... sounds like fun  ;)  I say offer $400, score a running engine, and upgrade the suspension.  Usually the engine will outlast the body on those cars... unless it pops a HG and is left to rust, lol.

looks liek a hell of a deal, you could try and spray soem PB into the cylinders and let it soak for a bit and try to manually turn the crank to break it loose. worth a shot instead of buying a new motor at first. worse case senario you fuck up th erings and have to buy a new one anyways lol

that's a base model 528.

533/5 in IS trim are much better looking.

If I bought it, I'll do a trick my dad tought me on an old pontiac 455.  It was locked up, so we poured a kerosene down the carb.  Let it set for about a month, went back put it in gear and the fan moved.  Changed the oil in it and the damn thing sarted right up.  Anyway, I'll try that just to see if I can get the engine running, but with a blown HG the heads gotta come off anyway, so I can't really hurt anything.

not going to be kept, at least for any length of time

either part it out
swap in an engine that runs and sell
swap in an engine that runs and try my hand at mega squirt then sell

not sure what i want to do, or even if its worth it
