I'm not good at this...
It's an HP running XP
I tried to start my laptop this morning and got an error message saying...
OS Missing
Press a key.
Then i get a message saying...
Non-System disk or disc error
replace and strike any key when ready
If i try to launch HP Recovery it goes to the blue screen of death
My recovery disk(s) gives me 2 options...
1. R for Standard Recovery options
Which goes right to blue screen
2. F to format the hard drive and reinstall the original settings. All data will be lost!
My question is if i reinstall to all original settings will I be able to get the files off the backup disk? This is my work computer and i have a shit load of stuff that i need... I made the backup disk's about 2 months ago. Do they have my files or just factory hardware?
Thanks for any help,

What did you save the files you need on? The hard drive? Does it have more than one hard drive?

I believe it only has one hard drive. The files are on the hard drive that is in the computer right now.
I made a recovery cd 2 months back. It is on 9 cd's.

Or you could just do what I said, and not have to pull any hard drive out...
