So heres the skinny. I've worked as Basiclly a Junior Admin at a Call center for like 3 years and basicly my job is simple windows active directory accounts setting up and building workstations / file servers simple LAN troublshooting profile security yadfa yada. Well Im senior tech adn my supervisor was lets just say much less technicaly oriented. IMO she happened to be jonny on the spot and was a tech when there were several really good techs that could carry teh wieght of supporting the 850+ seats with no issue. when they left it wasnt but a month or so till obviously she was promoted and then along came me. So for the last 3 years ive been really dual roled, cause while i do the Senior LAN work my boss was as most middle managers do, delegating most of her job to me. So i also did inventory, Overtime tracking, training for the whole team etc. bascily you could go to any of the other suprevisors (we got sites in like 4 countries and like 42 states) and they would tell you they come to me not her for answers. In fact ive pretty much headed up every single major upgrade or project here since ive been here first one was literally like 3 months in i re-addressed the entire site. massive task for first after college job.
So like in Feburary she passed away like out of no where. That sucked but i knew it was gonna be me, a guy who has worked with her for 9 years but has a rep of not being the hardest working or most caring indivudual and Bill.
Now Bill is the type that loves having authority cause he can pull rank on you, he also worked under chicky for same time frame bout 3 years but at another site so littel to no interaction. his first words when i told him his boss died was "You know im gonna gun for her job right?" So dude has actually been with teh company about 4 years i think and got a promotion like 1.5 years ago.
Long story short halfway thourhg hte interview process my Manager (old boss's boss) basicly got replaced, with bryans current boss. so the dude who has been goign around my boss to get answers from me is now out of teh picture and well. I think i found out today that old boy got it.
I feel robbed in a way but now what do i do? Look else where? we used to joke abotu how someone has to die around here to get a promotion not knowing that it might actually turn out that way but now that i didnt get that spot i cant pretty much count on sitting at junior admin till forever. Fuck that.
Cliffs: Worked as Supservisors right hand for 3 years. Sup died. Went for her spot but another dude who didnt work with her a fraction as much got it cause his boss took over interviewing and liked him better. Dont mind working for dude but spells dead end for me so should i look else where?

Scope out your companies competition, and inquire about if they're looking for someone in your position. You can tell them what you know and what you do, but DO NOT tell them what company you work for now.
Once you have something semi lined up with the new company, hit your company up for the world. You're either worth it for them to give it to you, or you'll have a new job somewhere else.

I saw this movie it was called office space. ;D
JK
No seriously I would figure out if your job is important enough that if you leave will there be caos. If so you have leverage for more pay or promotion.
If you have no leverage and you are not happy with your job find another. Of course I do not live in your area but where I live there is a lot of work if you want to work.
Or you could see what the new boss is like and if your are not happy then grap a problem printer take to a field and beat the shit out of it. Start showing up with a carefree atitude. If the new boss wants you to do your job tell him something like "I have to do my and I'm really tied up. I can also, not do your job"
Or just watch Office Space ;D

The fast way to move up is to change company's which kinda sucks. If you stay at one spot and try to work your way up, it may never happen. I would start looking for another job and in the mean time ask for more money; if your that good they will really have no choice.
-
Yeah i may have to start scoping some spots out. i mean i can accept that they picked a better man for the job but i cant help but feel robbed since i feel like i all but did that job for like 3 years. Fat lot of good it did me appearntly.

go to the manager
say these words
"Nigga you robbed me, I deserve that position of sup. I will suck your dick for it"
tell me if you get the job
-
if that doesnt work stab them in the neck with a fork
-
Yeah i think given teh choice of the two i pick the Fork. all i got in my desk is a taco bell Spork though. Damn this is gonna be messy.
-
stab him with your fist like a bad ass.

From reading, it sounds like you have mastered your craft. Go find a smaller business and do the same shit for them. Small companies, you can move up faster and they respect your work more. They respect it until they become a large company that is......

if dude turns out to be a douche bag just find ways to make him fuck up his duties, get him fired or demoted.
