Obama's aides had mocked reporters for making a fuss over his first 100 days in office, but the president was eager to assess the first 100 days of his $787 billion economic stimulus package.

"nearly" 150,000 jobs... oh really... thats only $5,246,666.66 per job!

Yeah mang Gov't math is wack. ;D

If you take 787 billion dollars and paid 100k to each per you would hire 7.87 million people. :?:

787 billion spread out amoung 300 million citizens would be about 2623.33 dollars each. damn that is a lot of money. ;D

Your much luckier than most. The automotive field I dont know what to say. Im watching people I do business with basically clearing out what is left and going back to just doing side work out of their houses. These were shops that pulled in huge profits. The money isnt there anymore and when I say to people if their is a car part you want to buy, buy it now Im not making the stuff up it wont be there in 6 months.

He means it isn't profitable enough to keep doing it, I think.

No buyers = no money

Companies have to run productions of parts like I have to order 50+ of parts people think we run one part at a time which i think is kinda funny.

No one is going to be re-ordering when the stuff just doesnt sell. Having inventory of parts that dont sell isnt paying your bills.

Im pretty deep into knowing the big guys in import performance on a friendly/business basis. Everyone is clearing inventory and many parts are going to be discontinued

Im no longer carrying the 65mm throttle bodies for example. Everyone is sliming down. Kids selling car parts isnt that profitable and all the money we make has to go back into development or in most peoples cases calling it quits.

The fact that huge automotive companies cant make it what makes people think the performance market is healthy. Its basically just ashes of what it once was. All that is left is cheap chinese shit that breaks.

Again most companies in this field are clearing out their shelves/inventory. Some very large names are rumored to be going bankrupt but I will let the news proof it. Hell when a company like Crane cams cant make it things are bad.

It was pretty funny when they had one of Obama's finance guys on CNBC.  Kudlow asked him like 18 times HOW they came up with the 150,000 jobs figure.  The guy just kept side stepping, so Kudlow called him on it, and he says something to the effect of, "oh it's much too complicated to explain here."  Kudlow just rolled his eyes and said goodbye.

Oh, btw little boy bliss, welcome to like... a month ago.

Pelosi appeals for China's help on climate change

Quote
BEIJING (AP) — U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged Beijing on Thursday to cooperate on climate change, calling a safe environment a basic human right.

"We have so much room for improvement," she said. "Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory ... of how we are taking responsibility."

Furor grows over partisan car dealer closings

Quote
Evidence appears to be mounting that the Obama administration has systematically targeted for closing Chrysler dealers who contributed to Repubicans. What started earlier this week as mainly a rumbling on the Right side of the Blogosphere has gathered some steam today with revelations that among the dealers being shut down are a GOP congressman and closing of competitors to a dealership chain partly owned by former Clinton White House chief of staff Mack McLarty.

Also fueling the controversy is the fact the RLJ-McCarty-Landers chain of Arkansas and Missouri dealerships aren't being closed, but many of their local competitors are being eliminated. Go here for a detailed look at this situation. McClarty is the former Clinton senior aide. The "J" is Robert Johnson, founder of the Black Entertainment Television, a heavy Democratic contributor.

A lawyer representing a group of  Chrysler dealers who are on the hit list deposed senior Chrysler executives and later told Reuters that he believes the closings have been forced on the company by the White House.

UPDATE II: White House car czar married to Democratic fund raiser

Maybe it's significant, maybe not, but a colleague here in the Examiner newsroom just reminded me that White House car czar Steven Rattner is married to Maureen White, the former national finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee. And let's not forget that before Rattner became a Wall Street mover and shaker, he was a New York Times reporter. Check out the Wiki bio here.
