Since my engine is on the stand awaiting a few parts i thought i would make some holes in my valve cover

Removed that sheet metal guard thing - whatever its called

Made a bigger gap here for more airflow

Cleaned up and awaiting JB weld
The concoction is all done and drying now.
Not sure if i cut out enough material, or too much here. What is the general consensus on amount of holes in valve cover?
-
you better fucking put that sheet metal baffle back on there otherwise after your first pull all your oil will be in your catch can or intake, assuming you wont have it drain back to your pan
-
Don't worry its all back together. Just drying atm.
-
on engines that do not have them i install baffles on the stock locations, eliminating the need for stupid fucking catch cans that only treate the symptom, not fix the fucking problem.
-
Well here's the thing completed. I'm not baller enough to whip out the torch. Bro could have welded aluminum fittings to it at work, but i like the jb weld touch personally.
The reason for this thread was to see how much baffle was necessary to be safe from loosing oil.

-
I think its a good idea, but you have to redo it a little better.

When we powder coat valve covers, we drill out the old rivets and remove the plate to clean the crap out. Then drill new holes and put in new rivets.

If they cleaned it very well when they started i disagree. When I wa N/A in the lexus I went small ports. Filled my intake ports with JB Weld - it wasn't a problem. It also was alot of work trying to get it back out when I decided to turbo. It did not come out easily.
