I do know that. But what about in a year or two. Supplies will decrease alot and price will sky rocket on the 27sf512. this is just a replacement that is still in production. It's just a future thought, not an imediate replacement.

Who cares what happens to chips in a year or two.
As always, technology advances, prices on current shit goes down and new shit that's better takes it's place.

So has anyone found a direct replacement of the SST chips yet and knows they work with a moates burner?

I don't feel like buying a chip at $4 each from anyone. They were like a little over a dollar each from mouser.

They were almost 2 bucks a pop at mouser the last time I ordered them and you also have to pay ground shipping too so if your only buying a couple its 4-5 bucks a pop

I have been finidng them all over my shop since i quit chipping ecu's after every kid in town started doing it.

I'll stick to my 4mbit chips & 32-to-28 pin adapters I've made, aka "16timer".

Makes testing different timing way easier.

When you have an idea what timing should be, make the maps before hand (which takes just as much time, same process), then compile them into a 4mbit file in half a second, I'd have to say it is quicker. Of course that doesn't take heatsoak into consideration, regardless I'm faster at turning a dial 22.5 degrees than opening a file (or changing some cells) then uploading to the ostrich.

Sometimes I miss crome in that respect.

The speed at which you can change canned solutions is irrelevant to my point.

As your point was to this thread.
