Title: Good Free DVD ripper and Burning Program??
Post by: Ghetto_D on July 02, 2009, 10:21:34 PM
Wifes laptop had roxio on it then Vista updated now roxio wont work, i tried to reinstall it, even tried the patch for it and no luck, it freezes up.

Is there something out there that is free, can rip DVD's, and burn them easily, ive tried to download a few on Cnet but they are suck ass trial versions.

Cnet has the worst pirated software on the net.  Try www.thepiratebay.com (http://)

Wow, you've never heard of a torrent? Download something like bittorrent or utorrent, then double-click your file. It will open it and start downloading the real illegal file.

dvd decrypter is what I use. Its really old since the movie people essentially shut it down. http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/ (http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/) has the file, but I'd scan it to be sure it's not a virus.

DVDShrink is for n00bs, and works mostly.  Lionsgate films are the only ones I've seen it doesn't handle too easily.

For that, DVDDecrypter or RipIt4Me

you probly need codecs ( k-lite codec pack will work) or you can try playing the file in vlc media player...

Yeah...if you're trying to play movies from pirate bay just get VLC media player.  MPC-HC is significantly better and VLC sucks ass if you're on Win7 (I know you aren't).

Slight thread jacking....

Best way to burn a DIVX video to a DVD?  Freeware or torrents please.

PS: No VCD nonsense either.

Buy a DVD player that plays DivX burned to CD as data.

Been using this for the past few months, kicks ass and is a very slim type program. No bloatware functions that you will never use. +1

I use to use Nero, but that's been a good 4 or so years. Why burn? Stream is the way to go.

Stream with what?  Computer is in one room, TV in another.  No Xbox360 or PS3.  I'm not spending $150 on a Slingbox or something like that.  I don't know of many good options.  Honestly, right now I've been dumping content on my ZenM and using the output on that to play content, but it's annoying making sure I have a full battery and I can only play about 6 hrs of video on it before the battery dies.

Nero makes VCDs.  VCDs suck.

A card with your TV's output and a long ass cord lol. Hell $50 or below will buy you a 360 these days. Just get one with a gimped CD drive to use as a middleman.

Why do I want a $50 broken Xbox360?  $75 I can build a BASIC media PC.
