Title: Was this a decent purchase?
Post by: marcj on July 07, 2009, 01:02:16 AM
Picked this up for $400 a few days ago. plans are a forged internal KA24DET. decided to part out my civic and go this route. The block is solid decked, long stroke, great displacement. Almost every dyno chart i've seen yields equal torque gains w/ hp.. something I've always dreamed about with my countless honda setups.

and no, this isn't going to be some faggot drift car bullshit. this project was inspired by the 180sx HKS dragster I loved so much from GT2 back in the day.

I think you niggers will feel different about this project once it's officially started.
either way, I will pull X car length(s) on your fwd from a dig on comparable street radials

LSx swap ftw!

I was considering this, but the cost of an LS1, the work involved with the mounting, and a stand alone, all for 400hp 400tq (NA) isn't worth it when I already have a complete turbo setup good for an easy 500whp, and a 2.4L that has an optimal stroke.

they do make an adapter to bolt a 3 speed automatic Ford C4 transmission up to the KA24DE, that is good for 7 sec. time slips.

Actually, you'll probably just wheelhop a lot when you try to launch.  Old IRS sucks for holeshots.

Then do wheelies and barrel rolls.

I think its a good price considering the freaking drift tax now in days. I paid 1000 for my car back in 04 before all the hype. 350-500 dollars gets you all the 5speed parts.

Parts interchangeability is great in the Nissan world also.

im glad that you are going KA-T and not SR which to me is equivalent to the B16 in your guys world.

SR is better than the B16, sorry.  A B16 is more like an E15ET, to translate into NisAnd because I'm an intellectual being, peak, only it commands SR-like prices among complete fucking faggots.

I understand why you say that, though.  KA has a lot of really strong aspects, and the weak aspects can be fixed cheaper than the price of a used up SR20DET swap.  I'd like to see an SR20DET rod eat 400 wtq - the stock KA24's can.

Amen...... loves this place already :)

forged pistons and you are all freaking go with the KA.... all of mine were stock on low boost.

and thanks for cleaning up my correlation, i can now sound cooler

my KA had wheelhop like a sonofabitch.  Subframe spacers helped a bit but still every time I launched it felt like I was breaking the car.

i had no issue launching my car when i had stock suspension.. however with my grip/drift JIC coilover setup, it was very hard lol....  i had sub frame bushings, welded diff, after market bushings on my sway along with rear strut bar.

for drag with FR chassis, im sure you know that the rear suspension must be on the softer side.

hard suspension in the rear doesn't yield good results for the s-chassis in relation to drag racing.
