Title: anyone ever do a timing chain on a cavalier/sunfire 2.2?
Post by: turbostd on July 10, 2009, 07:37:00 PM
I have been trying to change the timing chain and tensioner on a 2000 sunfire. I got it all torn down. No idea why in the world gm decided to put 5 bolts in the damn ps pump lol. Anyhow the issue im having is i cant get the damn bolt out of the cam to get the top gear off. Any ideas on how to get it? My impact wont budge it . Some asshat must have put it in on the nog setting lol.

heat the bolt a bit, just dont heat it till you fuck up the cam seals and the cams ability to not break off, then try impact again, worked on the last one i did for a buddy and he never had any problems after
