Title: If you were buying 10W 10ohm resistors...
Post by: onlyflash944 on August 10, 2009, 12:20:46 AM
Which one would you by from digi-key?  This is going to be a cheap resistor box for injectors.  I'm no electronix xpert and just wanted some input frome some one else

As cheap as can be.  Wonder if reliability is an issue

A bit more expensive but has some better tolerances.  Probably will order 4 of these

If you're going to get them, get 6.8 ohm resistors.  That's what Honda/Toyota/DSM are.

That 10 ohm shit is just what's found on the shelf at Radio Shack.

Can i ask why the 10 ohm is used if it is supposed to be 6.8 ohm? besides accessability at radio shack.

No, you can't ask.  Take it back!!

The les power you drop across some dorky resistor instead of the injector, the shittier they operate.  Any electro-mechanical device is the same way... do you want 8v or 12v going to your starter for best effect?  Etc.

Ohm's Law (for voltage): V = I * R
Voltage = Amperage * Resistance

Add more resistance, and you'll need more voltage to supply the same current. As JD said, less power to a solenoid (injector), and the slower & more erraticly it opens. The honda resistor box I have next to me is reading 6.5ohms fyi. The 2nd style only offers 5 & 10ohm, the other has 6.8ohm. That 5% will maybe affect opening speed, but that accounts for a small amount at idle, and far far less with high rpm & boost.
